It was -30 today and for the last week or so. We haven't driven for a couple of days, and today when we got in the car, I had to push it out of the spot. We started driving and the car felt like it was dragging, so I went to get out to see what the problem was, and both the tires on the passenger side were flat, we were on rims. We called AMA (its like AAA) and it was busy. I kept calling back and kept getting a busy tone. We then saw an AMA truck, so I ran to him and asked him for help. He said that he had to help some other lady in the same parking lot and then he would be over to help us.

So we waited for about half an hour, and then he drove over to us. We are both freezing in the car (its -30), and he comes over and says "I can't help you, I need to go help 20 people who are in front of you." and then drove off into another parking lot and sat there for at least 5 minutes doing nothing. I was so mad, because he said he was going to help us, etc. I don't want to type how angry I was so I am going to skip that.

So now its dark out and we had to walk the 5 minute walk back to the school while I am on the phone again to AMA. After freezing our asses off, we finally got in, and still no one answered. I hung up after 30 minutes because the music was driving us crazy, and I am going to get up at 5 tomorrow and call them and hopefully get faster service.

My girlfriend was supposed to drive me to the airport and then 2 hours to home tomorrow, and we cant.

Fuck.

That's terrible man.

Was there a big temperature change from warmer to colder? You sure the tires just didn't lose a lot of pressure from a temperature drop?

Worst case scenario, you could change the front tire with the spare (assuming you have front wheel drive), and drive very very slowly to a gas station. Fill up the tires and see if they hold air at the colder temperature. Not a great option, but it's something.

Good luck man.

Glad I know some people that if I was ever stuck I can just call them up and they can come pick me up and the automobile. Screw waiting for a shitty tow service. Worse case I ever had to do was when my friend forgot his cell and mine was broken had to walk about half a mile in winter. Would have been less but I could not remember which trailer had a family member living in it (car died in a trailer park which I my grandma on my dad's side had lived at the time). Next time I suggest you have someone that would be willing to help you out instead of relying on a tow service.

You could have spent less time in the car if you would have just took the 5 minute walk in the first place instead of just waiting around.

@ Szyslak: I would, but I don't feel like changing two tires at 8PM, in the windiest town in Canada, when the temp is -30 without wind. Thanks for wishing luck

@ Banger: We waited because the dick said he was going to help us
