Well the DSI is worth it if you dont already have a DS Lite and a flashcart, the cyclo is worth it if you dont already have a flash card, and its good to back up game collections, pirate roms (favorite), or play homebrew, the media player function is only good if you DONT already have an ipod/mp3 player of some sort, and who doesnt now adays?

To "buy" games
I put media player even though i dont use it much, but i have PV or Music vids or w/e on my ds.

I have an M3 and R4

And Dont really care about upgrading to dsi.

Using AK2i right now, got an original R4 and R4i red box. Using it mainly as a media player, sometimes when my cousin is round i play a couple of games with him. Only upgraded to the dsi because i still had a dsphat that was dying... and i'm not disappointed by the dsi, but it's really not worth upgrading to the dsi if you have a dslite.

M3i zero and Datel Games n Music(I dont think it even works anymore, but since I no longer have my phat I cant really test it)

Used for all of the above - piracy, legal backups, homebrew. I use it for media a bit, but not often due to the DS being a clamshell and therefore not a good form factor for that sort of thing.

I went from a DS phat to a DSi, and I'm finding its completely worth it. however, if you have a lite I'd hold off unless/until it gets its own proper homebrew, in which case I think it would become a must buy.

->My SIG, there they are all, but I'm using every flashcard for other things, like one for Hemebrew, one for Games, one for tests and one for all things I make.

I think the DSi is worth it when you don't have already a DS or DS lite.
It would be REALLY worth the money to buy an extra DSiPlayer to play your GBA games with it
And I would rather buy the DSi than that mega - DSi LL that comes out in december in Japan, it's just too big to be the way of portable that I mean.

I haven't been gaming for such a long time. Been mostly busy with sleep, hardware tinkering and checking GBAtemp frequently.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Hope you've had a good morning.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
It's going alright thanks :) I know what you mean with gaming time. It's precious where I can get it these days.

I think that's why I focus on just enjoying single player experiences that aren't too competitive
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
    How are you doing?
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
There's also this thing where I'm hyperfocused at night and cannot get to sleep.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
    @Maximumbeans, I'm doing alright, thanks.

That must be rough. Productive I'm sure but hard to balance with daily life

@Maximumbeans, Indeed. I've been working on getting this Infecutus chip to work on my PS2. But after soldering, I realised that a plastic piece was missing from the power ribbon cable to the power and eject buttons.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Now I could go with soldering the contacts from the cable to the connector on the mobo, but doesn't sound like a good permanent solution.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
Man, that's beyond my brain  I'm no good with hardware for now. I'd like to get into hardmods in future though
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Maybe start practice soldering. Get a cheap-ass soldering iron and follow some good YouTube tutorials.

  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Least my experience has gotten better than over a decade ago. My iron would constantly bump into components and break them.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
Sounds good. I actually did soldering but like 16 years ago for school so uuuuh probably rusty haha
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Same here. I did soldering at school from a teacher who I honestly liked since he had plenty of good electronics experience.

@Maximumbeans, I had a friend who had a glass chess set for their birthday.

It was like all clear and fancy. Tbf I'm not too experienced with chess, but would like to learn someday.

    That sounds really cool
