Hacking Flashcart Kernel confusion

I'm going to appologise right now, as I'm new to the homebrew and flashcart scene etc.

I currently have a R4i ver2.0 Revolution for DS (www.r4ids.com) which ran Akaio 1.8.6a perfectly. Today I traded my DSiXL and bought a 3DS. My Revolution shows up on my 3DS as a R4DS Ultra which I pretty much suspected after doing some research. My question is, are there any kernels out there that will allow my current card to run on my 3DS so I can carry on with my DS games, or am I going to have to buy a new 3DS compatible card? If so, can anyone recommend any good quality cheap cards?

Karnel does not affect 3DS conpatibility
its purely for loading the games

Firmware is what you need to update to make it work on newer consoles and if you firmware cannot be updated then your out of luck

1.8.6a also was most likely the hacked version made to work on all cards not the official one

is your card also a R4i Gold 2.0 or just R4i 2.0

I believe it's a R4i Gold 2.0. Thanks for clearing up the firmware/kernel confusion, helps me understand the cards a bit more!

V2.0 version has stopped being sold.

R4i gold V2.0 Firmware below have been tested and work for Nintendo DSi XL,DSi LL, DSi, DSL and DS.

R4i Gold V2.0 is built with EON processor chip while Acekard 2i SST was used,

update from AKAIO kernel.
R4i Gold V2.0 now support 3DS console with no need any update!

it wont work on 3DS latest udpate basically

the firmware (even the latest update if you has done it stopped having compatibility with 3DS 2.1.0-4)
the Kernal being redundant as not being able to affect console compatibility

so all in all buy new card
