How come a "copy" of this is not floating around in the usual places
I don't know. Either people are too busy playing or no one is bothering to do it since if the jp version is released, then it isn't any technical reason for it not to be "copied".

Help. I installed the 32 update over the 16, and now the game does start without asking for an update. But it still shows as an incomplete update in Data Management, and won't let me copy, move, or delete it.

There's hope for a Xenosaga port.

Using "NusGrabber.exe 0005000E101C4D00" I keep getting a crash after running the WUP exploit twice and returning to home menu. How big is the content folder I should be getting? Mine is 110MB

Does the screen with the Miis walking around being frozen constitute a crash or does that just mean it's working? I'm new to this
My data size and MD5 of the exe are identical with yours

Here's how I did it:

1. http://eclipsesin.github.io/
2. Clicked: "WUP Installer"
3. Kicks out back to the menu with the message "Data installed" or whatever.
4. Immediately clicked the browser icon and repeated steps 1 & 2.
5. Back at the menu with the "Data installed" message again, I clicked on "Wii U Menu (?)"
6. I let it sit there on the main screen - same one you see when the system is done starting up - for a little over 15 minutes.
7. Powered off, powered back on, started the game and it was v1.0.1U

Be sure your files are in this format:

SDCARD:\install\file1
SDCARD:\install\file2
SDCARD:\install\etc

BTW, it did take more than one attempt to get to step 5 without a freeze/crash.

This is the part I get to except the screen freezes when I hit Wii U Menu and my Mii pops into the screen, it's just frozen there. Were your Miis walking around when you were installing? I don't know if this screen freezing is supposed to happen, I know it didn't when I spoofed the firmware, which worked successfully

There was no freezing. The various bubble messages were popping up as they normally do and Miis were moving around and such. I don't know what would cause it to freeze at that point.
Everything was behaving as it normally does when the console starts up with no indication that anything else was happening.

Nevermind, I fixed it by using the github.io link you provided. I was using wupinstaller.com/wi which must be using an outdated whitelist

The whitelist can't be outdated that's not how the list works.
There is also only one version of wupinstaller.

You just had bad luck.

I was just going based on what the guide thread says about an error occurring at that point in the process ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ You obviously know more than I do

So, I have the firmware spoofed to 5.5.0, and the (presumably latest) update installed, does this mean I can put the disc in and be able to play it without risk to my system version?

Edit: Took a gamble and it booted up perfectly :D

Believe it or not people who mod their consoles actually like games, and if they release a "copy" of a not so popular game into the wild then what are the chances of the developers releasing another game?
Just give it a while, it will be released when its ready, if u dont want to/cant afford to buy the game then a few weeks wait aint to bad right?

I'm working on a personal backup of the disc right now and the content directory alone is going to take 8-10 hours to build. If I were to then theoretically upload the backup files of a 22.7GB game on my 3Mbps upstream, it would take an additional 18 hours. Long story short: I imagine it will take a good deal of time to pop up anywhere besides your local Best Buy
