I'm modding my wii for the first time. I'm using the stickied thread

    I got to:

It should be somewhere in the package you got
If not, you can get it with NUS Downloader as well [IMG]

Well, I don't know what was wrong. It's working fine now. Am I protected against bricking with this setup? I'm really clueless about this if you couldn't tell.

That's okay. It takes a while to familiarize yourself with the terminology and get a grasp on what it all is. Like the guide says: one word at a time. [IMG]

As for your question: yes. Bootmii's most common use is of a backup program. The guide guides you to backing up your nand (that is your wii's hard drive) on an SD-card.

In case you do brick, you can usually still start either bootmii or priiloader (which can start bootmii), which allows you to restore the backup you've made.

Completely avoiding any bricks is impossible, but you'll certainly minimize the chances by following the guide. [IMG]

The only bricks I'm really worried about are permanent bricks. Are those avoidable?

Also, what should I do/not do to prevent bricking?

All bricks can be avoided if you know what you're doing
