it has trucha bug patched and you can choose to only install ios 60 and sysmenu 4.0 or use advanced options like update mii channel, shop channel, ios 61 etc
Wow these 4.0 update posts are making me dizzy.

So with this updater, I can play my trucha signed games from the Disk Channel?

Also, since you have the updated Mii Channel, Shop Channel and IOS61 as an "option" to install, would installing these disable or remove anything?

Sorry, I feel like crap and I'm usually good and backtracking info.

So does this get rid of all the bad stuff? Will preloader be able to be updated to work with it? How about custom system menus? And does it really auto update?

the new sd-card features are STILL
STILL
STILL

1) worse for your system's hardware than wad manager
2) slower than wad manager
3) more of a hassle than wad manager

seriously? why do you care so much?

anyone who thinks this crap is an even trade for preloader is ridiculous.

To all people who have US Firmwares:

DO NOT USE Nicksasa's upgrader!!!

It _WILL_ semi-brick your wii!

For PAL people its ok

Seems like 4.0 is best system update yet if you have a modchip...it has all the functions of 3.2, including running trucha signed discs from the disc channel, if you install the patched IOS 60, it has the SD storage option. I guess for softmodders there is still some issues to work out. And I'm still not sure why everyone is so hung over preloader and starfall. If you're careful and know what wads you're installing...then you really shouldn't risk a brick... aside from preloader and starfall what other benefit does 3.2 have over 4.0

Heh, i just used it, and found this out. If you know how to recover, go right ahead, otherwise, be careful.

Hope nicksasa can fix it tho.

Is it possible to "block" the disc channel somehow? These error messages Iget is really annoying.

EDIT: Never mind. After Waninkoko's installer, I used this:

http://www.yafaze.com/wii/menu4.0hack.html

No more problems with crashing trucha discs, all VC works from both SD and NAND. This is good stuff.

The only thing I really miss from 3.2 is Starfall and custom health screens, but my modchip can block updates, and that substitutes for Starfall at least.

Let's hope for the health screens later on! :-)

Yep, that's exactly what I did to get my 4.0U working like I like it.

Just gotta get Waninkoko's cIOS rev8 DIP in IOS60/61 and I'll be set with Softmii again.

What's a cIOS rev8 DIP?

Even with that installer and waninkokos 4.0 updater you wont be able to play multigame discs from disc channel or use gh customs(with modchipped Wii , that is. I know that it doesnt work for softmodders).

On a different note , can I just use anyregionchanger´s downgrade feature to get back on 3.2 after installing this or do I have to use cios downgrader?

gh customs work perfectly fine with me on 4.0, im mod chipped...I updated via updater 4.0 and then installed the patch ios 60, don't know what your problem is mate.

Hmm... I just installed Waninkoko's firmware updater on my 3.4U wii that does have cios249 v8
the installation seemed to go find the last thing it said was IOS55 or something (it never even said 4.0U installed)installed and then it said press any button to reboot.

I press a button goes black, doesn't reboot, after I cold boot it, it doesn't boot I get no signal.

FULL BRICK!?!?!?!?!?!?

Did you have preloader installed? If so try holding reset and see if you can get in the menu. If you can, use anyregionchanger to reinstall 3.2

Not much you can do then besides trying savemefrii... Do a search for it. Savemii might also work.

This is the #1 reason why nobody should be touching this update for now untill we have a SAFE install.
