Mozilla is working on the first patch for Firefox 4, which will carry the version number 4.2, while more mockups of Firefox 5 design elements have been published.
Mozilla’s developer team is busy providing the first update for Firefox 4. The first nightly builds of Firefox 4.2apre have been available for two days, but will not include dramatic changes, but reflect Mozilla’s new development process. There will be bugfixes, but bigger changes should be expected for version 5, which is due at the end of June.

We know that the developer team is already hard at work figuring out the changes for Firefox 5, but there is no public information about these features yet – other than what we previously described as part of the areweprettyyet.com pages. The site was recently updated with a mockup that highlights the way how Firefox 5 will handle account information on specific websites. Sign-ins will be able directly through a pop-up window and the account name will be displayed in the URL bar. The account manager will support multiple accounts through the URL bar and support multiple account sign-ins at the same time.

Nightly builds every night (of course) so it'll auto update every day. ^^

i Believe i read SOMEWHERE that Mozilla plans to have updates release faster than they did previously, similar to how often Chrome pushes out updates.

Well it's more that if I understand the article correctly it will be without user input (I like to know it if they change/update something).
Not going to happen. Firefox is opensource and they're all about open-ness. You're also basing it off a machine-translated article that is based off information that had to be translated, going from English to Dutch and then back to English.
That kind of tactic is more for the Apples of the world (Like stealth installing Safari with an iTunes update).

As for firefox 4, well with three I'll save my tabs at the end of the day so I can recall the next day. When I updated to four the bastard deleted al those tabs (I did not get the opportunity to save my new tabs either), so unless there is a way around that I'll be sticking to three.
I don't particularly use that feature, however I know that it has been made EASIER in Firefox 4 since on the start page there is now a link to resume previous session. In addition, the previous way of Options -> General -> When Firefox starts: Show my windows and tabs from last time is still there... so I'm not sure what the problem is.
Also, Firefox now resumes the previous session automatically if opened through an external link (like an RSS feed), not sure if this is a feature of a "feature" (read unintended or a bug).

Firefox 4.0 was being worked on before 3.6 IIRC... so that really means nothing.

The unbranded, experimental (nightly) builds of what becomes Firefox.
Basically, it's a "snapshot" of the day-to-day builds released every night. It frequently contains untested code changes and isn't very stable (hence the name, Minefield).

From the sounds of it, they're adopting the Chrome update scheme/schedule, so looks like it's back to IE for you.

I've had no freezing with Fx4 on my computer. Those of you that have it, disable all your addons and see if it continues.

I wonder if they're going to rename it like Java did. Java 24 is actually Java 6u24, for example. The common updates are all within one family. In addition OSX did this as well, with 10.5 to 10.6 being a major update in the same vein as Vista-7, but keeping the major version number. This could be a way for them to push new things to their userbase without making them rely on minefield and other unstable venues.

Well I don't know, I disliked firefox 4 so I reinstalled 3. And considering the fact that firefox 5 will have automatic updates I'll probably get another browser instead (or still keep 3).Bad move.

Vulerabilities are fixed in products like firefox all the time... until they stop being updated. So new vulnerabilities found in older firefox versions will not be fixed.
And the whole "I'm careful what I download so I won't get infected" excuse is wrong, as you can see there's vulnerabilities you can get exploited simply by viewing a page.
On that note, "I don't go to porn sites" doesn't matter either, since advertisements can do it too, and damn near every site has ads.

There's a "restore previous session" button on the home page.
