Believe me or not, but Square only does C&D nothing more nothing less.
Chrono Resurrection, is a great example of this.
It was so damn hot for a mere Unreal Mod, search the trailer at Youtube.
It looked like the project could hit Squaresoft's Chrono Trigger (Snes / DS) consecutively at its balls, and yet Square just gave them a C&D.

Also, I never heard of a fan project that actually got more than a C&D. :-\

I would love to see someone just take these C&D letters and throw them away, and blissfully continue their work. Let the company spend the thousands on court costs if they really mean it. Otherwise, they're nothing but empty threats and mean nothing.

QUOTE(NeverGoingBack @ Jan 16 2009, 02:43 PM) A long time ago some people were working on making a 8bit nes version of FF7. I dont know if it was ever complete though. If so , this could be played on Nes emulator or even alot easier to port to DS. You could even down sample the psx videos to dpg and put them in the right spots for some FMV. Dont know if this is concievable, Id play it though.

Chinese bootleggers already made this and sold cartridges. It was dumped to ROM last year. It would need a translation at the very least... editing the graphics(most of which were lifted from other FF games) and toning the difficulty down to a playable level would also need to be done.

where is the source o.O?

I have a good remark, do we really need a remake of a series that already gone through a remake on the PSP, PS2, and maybe on the PS3. How about unless this is going to be fanbase project then I have no say. If you going to make a petition about this, I will argue against it!

I guess you could argue that the remakes are a bit too much, but besides PS1 and PC (which is a bit obscure), the game has been under-ported compared to other earlier ones.

A proper port of FF7 to the PS3 would actually make me want to go out and buy a PS3. And I'm not talking about all these retarded spinoffs either.

as of my current knowledge
Yes it's possible but not gauranteed
as simply seen final fantasy 7 has a so old bit style
that a ds can run it with ease. the pc version perhaps, but the psx version i am not sure
if you were able to do such a stunt and eventually finish from a to z, not you will have only done something hard but you will go in history as a good coder and all ff7 fans who dont own a psx/pc/psp but do a DS will like you as much as they like uuhh...
final fantasy 7 itself lol

Heh. No. You will never be able to emulate the huge universe of final fantasy. Its sad, but true.

how many times do I have to say Im NOT REMAKING it! did you read the thread? and it has not been remade for either of those consoles (crappy{ps2}) sequels where made but not a remake. also yes a fan project. wow you should really read more about this thread and this game.

thank you for your very diligent response obviously you know where I'm coming from with the pc version having basic requirements and no not the psx one that would require insane emulation and be near impossible to work with the data let alone just make a engine for the data

When you program a game for another platform without the source code of the original, it is called a remake. So yes, you would indeed be 'remaking it'.

Yeah and you also said something about "recreating" the game engine... lmao
