i just got internet a while ago and i would like a list of films worth watching that camne out the past year or so
any genre is fine

hi

Apocalypto - mel gibson extrevaganza. nice flick
Casino Royale - bond movies take a different path and thank the lords. those cheap one liner filled ones of late were shite
Children of Men - i wasn't too impressed but many loved this
Deja Vu - denzel doing his thing. good flick
The Departed - can't go past this one
Fracture - wouldn't go out of my way for this but it kills a bit of time
Kenny - do not miss this. an aussie doco/film. top watch
Lucky Number Slevin - bit of bruce willis action for ya
Curse of the Golden Flower - amazing! yimou zhang of crouching tiger hidden dragon and house of flying daggers fame brings to life a family tiff to amazing heights. do not miss this!
Mr Brooks - good time killer. twisted and fun
The Pursuit of Happyness - lump in your throat stuff. will smith at his best.
Reign Over Me - do not miss this one. adam sandler will amaze you with his 1337 acting skills
Serenity - bit of sci fi in the mix for you. cool movie. don't miss the Firefly series if you enjoyed this. best show ever made and sadly cut. fanbase still growing after it got axed 5 years ago
The Prestige - poof and you're gone. christian bale doing his thing. he's become a must watch actor. scarlett is hot as always. damn she's a fine piece of work.
Stranger Than Fiction - will farrell tackles a rom/drama and pulls it off. well written, nice twist. watch out for maggie gyllenhaal, she'll be a huge star one day if not already
Sunshine - another sci fi for you. interesting take on a possibility of our future
Transformers - popcorn flick. pretty forgettable
We are Marshall - feel good.
Superbad - lol

recently saw : Oldboy, 1408, Silence of the lambs trilogy (again and again ...), those were good, prestige was good too.

and off of my all favourite ones, i can tell u about A Beautiful Mind, The Game, True man Show, Amelie, Lost Highway, Ringu, Magnolia, Sin City, The Cell, City of Lost Children, Shawshank Redemption, Napoleon Dynamite.

yeah i second test84's vote for Oldboy

also by the same director in his "revenge series" is Sympathy for Lady Vengeance. Another amazing film.

check out Julien Donkey Boy as well if you're into demented type stuff. It's by the guy that made Gummo.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

- I guess you'd like it if you're a fan of the series.
Blow - True story about a drug lord.
Requiem for a Dream - story of a guy who sells drugs...there's a book about the movie also.
Resident Evil 3 (You'll have to wait until it comes out on DVD) - Great movie; about Zombies.

Just what I've recently seen...I'd describe more, just don't wanna spoil anything

Edit -
Also, a movie called Shooter. It's a story about a sniper, and it has a huge twist that involves the government. Highly recommend that movie if you like action movies.

Pan's Labyrinth, Noise (an intense Australian film)... Hmmm that's all I would really recommend, that I have watched and are reasonably recent.

This year?
30 Days Of Night
Bourne Ultimatum
Blood Diamond
28 Weeks Later
The Departed

has the prequel to the departed been released yet?

btw guys, thanks for the suggestions
already downloaded quite a few of these and am looking forward to the weekend

The Host - Fantastic film, drags on a bit but I really really enjoyed it
Old boy - Probably one of my all time favourite films

Both are Korean only (oddly enough) so expect to read subs!

- jackie brown
- the godfather 2 & 3
- pirates of the carribeans 3
