Here comes another round of updates on our file upload site, the increasingly popular Filetrip.net. After last week's updates some suggestions were taken into consideration and we have made the site even better by bringing you the following changes:

  • Video playback now resumes where you left off. If you were watching a video and got interrupted (eg. the accidental tab closing accident) the position in the video is remembered, so you can resume watching where you left off.
  • Latest videos page is now much improved. You can sort the videos by popularity, recent, alphabetical order and can run a search too.
  • iOS 6 devices can now upload files to Filetrip! If you've got a photo or a video you want to share, just open up Filetrip's homepage and use the upload button.
  • The sponsored downloader no longer comes by default when you download a file from one of our categories. This was obviously annoying everyone so instead, you get big obvious buttons when downloading something. You can choose between automatic or manual downloads so no confusion is made.
  • A lot of ad banners have been removed across the site since they weren't all that efficient.

We also received a good number of suggestions, so here is the list of features that will probably be supported in the future:
- Uploading files via FTP, this feature is already in beta stages and some members are already using it.
- Support for comments on uploaded files such as videos, photos, audio and all
- Creating photo/video galleries from uploaded files
- Uploading multiple files at once, which is obviously required for creating galleries
- Possibility of sharing your uploaded files by allowing other users to view your uploaded files
- iOS and Android apps for accessing your files, playing your videos/audio/photos, and uploading new files
- Translation of the site to other languages

If you have any more suggestions feel free to comment in this thread!

Ok, there's no hurry, I just figured since there was an iOS section that there ought to be an android section for those anti apple members.

very nice updates. some brilliant updates are there on that list.
i especially love Video Playback since even youtube doesnt have that.
it won't be long before they steal our idea :creep:
j/k ... but yeah, they should totally do that, isn't it already possible somehow?

they do store the files (hence no need to redownload it) incase someone visits that video again within the same session or something. resuming... not seen at all from my side.
copyright that! rather patent that!

First thank you for the update.
Second...do you guys need help with the translation process? I'll be happy to help with the translation. I can help with Romanian and Hungarian translations. ;)
If you do, then send me a PM!!!

So you've made the choice between automated and manual downloads much clearer, thank you. :)

I don't necessarily object to the usage of a downloader, CNET does this, but to default to a suspicious EXE file that wants to install toolbars or search engines will scare off a lot of people.
Especially when said file automatically prompts an EXE download instead of the expected file.

Previously I said this would probably impact downloads of Wood R4 v1.52, and that appears to be the case. It has only been downloaded 700 times in a week.
This is in contrast to Wood R4 v1.51 which has been downloaded more than 12,000 times since August 21st, or the course of 5 weeks.

Of course, you might just chalk that up to what V1.52 had on offer, it only fixed two games and changed code somewhat, v1.51 fixed Pokémon Conquest (E) and four others.

Also, I would love the ability to make galleries from uploaded image files. I have a large collection of GIFs that are too large for hosting elsewhere.

Thanks for the choice between normal and installer download, it's much better :)
For the translations, what about using Crowdin or something similar ? It will allow users to translate to their language easily.

I was about to ask about the downloader, as I'd have the downloader downloaded and then my antivirus program would delete it because it supposedly had some kind of virus attached. I'm glad I have the option to download the actual files now instead of that dumb executable.

Translation of the site to other languages
This isn't exactly needed IMO, people need to know english, even if they want homebrew programs or not, finding them translated can be difficult
some people have asked for that specifically, they need help with the interface of the website itself because there are some functions they don't understand.
we're not going to translate the files themselves though :P
however an automatic translation of the file description could be an idea ;)
