OK, my current PC is dead, mobo was fried or something, and i'm not gonna fix it. i've got lots of music and stuff on 2 hard drives from that computer, but no way to get them off onto the new computer i'm getting.

i had a usb/hdd enclosure, but that fried along with the mobo, so i can't use that
new computer is a laptop, so it won't have ide slots or anything
the only computer that has any way of booting something and accessing the hard drive is really old; it has usb 1.1, so transfer ~160gb of files will take ages.

what would be the easiest way to go about this. i'm thinking network connection, but i'm not sure how to go from linux-windows, or how to attempt it at all really.

using puppy linux on the old pc, running xp on the one that i'll use for transferring

any help?

Set up the web server on puppy (might already be installed, might not depending on your puppy version), and put the files you want into the htdocs folder (or set the folder the files are in as the htdocuments folder), then type that computer's local IP (192.168.x.x) into the browser on the linux machine and you should see the list of files, and you can download them.
