I've been playing awakening for a while and during that damn Aversa recruitment paralogue I used cheats, the problem came when I chose to use the infinite turn cheat. The cheat worked perfectly, what happened after was my fault. I decided to pair up my characters, but do to the cheat they paired up, but remained separate units since their turn did not end. It was all good until the battle ended and I (stupidly) saved my game.the characters now remain paired up in the menus even while in the world map, this makes it impossible to start a new chapter or battle because the game can't ready the battle prep screen whilst the units are paired up before the battle.
Can any of you find a way to separate them? I know that I could just kill and revive said characters with a save editor, but Chrom and MU can't be killed, which is the reason I haven't tried that method yet

What you need to do is find a quest where you have the same amount of units as the one where you used the cheats. Once in a quest, move the characters and select separate. Hope this helps.

Read what I wrote again carefully dude

I did and I offered you a solution to your issue. I had the same issue.
Well, it doesn't seem to work for me, the game just crashes right before the battle prep screen
I was hoping someone could modify the stats through save modifying to remove the pairings
