Why is that I've been using it with my PS controller and its been just fie what is wrong with it?

Yeah it works but even I was "why would driver need constant internet connection" when I first installed it. Why section of that linked page pretty much summs it up http://betterds3.ciebiera.net/why/ especially last sentence "S3_Tool.exe does have the ability to download files from a remote location and execute them." which means that programs author can make you download and run almost anything, it may be just for ads but again it may not.
Of course Better DS3 still needs motioninjoy to be installed but S3_Tool.exe never needs to be opened or connected to internet.
