Hi I was given a 2DS XL that shows this error when starting up. Appears it was hacked but the person attempted to erase the hack by reflashing to stock fw.
But this person wasn’t aware you need to follow a procedure to uninstall CFW.

Is there a procedure I can use to re hack it again and reload CFW?

thanks

Get Luma3DS v9.1 and try booting

Ok I put the 9.1 boot.firm on the root of the SD, and now it boots into a Luma3DS v.91 Configuration Screen.

Says Press A to select, Start to Save.
With various options

luma will boot the config screen if you don't have the config save. yeah, it's a luma issue that you have. you just needed to update.

you want to enable sys in NAND option at the minimum. that way you'll know you're on cfw. it will says sys next to version; official shows ver.

I would. it's suggested in the 3ds tutorial I believe. you'll at least have piece of mind knowing that everything is working.

Ok I enabled the show Nand string thing, and booted again, it shows Sys 11.10.0-43E

Can I update firmware via normal procedure, and update to Luma 10.2 now?

After that I take it that's it, or do I need to load a CFW, or is Luma the CFW?

thanks

you may need to update luma first or you could get that error again. it's an easy fix as just putting the boot.firm on the sd card. godmode can put it in the ctrnand or you can use a luma updater. you can then update sysnand. you can really do either, but it's easier this way.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

btw, before you update, backup up the sysnand as @TurdPooCharger suggested. you'll be able to rollback easily and in case something happens when you update, you'll have a lifeline.

of course, but tell that to the man who now has a boot loop on his wii u after using a youtube tutorial. it may be fixable, but he has no nand backup, if it's not.

@SylverReZ, I also heard one of the Prince of Persia games was so unfinished that it required the "24/7 online" drm so a puzzle could be done and the game could be finished. And that when the Ubisoft servers were closed the (cracked) game was impossible to finish or something like that
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, That's extra scummy. Ubisoft nowadays ship out incomplete games like Skull and Bones which was being worked on for nearly a decade now.

I like that games can be fixed after the fact, hate that it's being abused via beta tests... And DLC... I was a 7800 owner back in the day and loved Impossible Mission, turns out I couldn't beat it because it was actually impossible lol

I never knew about it at the time but a fixed version was available but you had to mail in your broken copy lol

So that version is semi rare
