The hate is because the only thing they do is tease and never release anything of the stuff they show.

fail0verflow is a team composed of many hackers, inlcuding marcan et al. Bushing was there too
They're quite well known, many of them were in team twiizers, the ones that hacked the Wii open once and again, brought us the Homebrew Channel, and made the whole Wii homebrew magic possible.

They have a strong pro-homebrew anti-piracy stand, and usually don't release things because of that. Some entitled people seem to hate them. They are just hackers that like to show off, sure, but they write very interesting articles, they give enlightening conferences on the C3 quite often, if you are interested in hacking they usually have something nice for you to watch/read.

But people usually only expect to get a silver plate with exploits, iso loaders, etc handled to them directly, they don't do that anymore, so people hate them.

It quite possible. I'm thinking it could also be used for USB debugging, or running commands on the Switch over a serial connection as i imagine that would make things a lot easier for developing / testing.

Presumably the PCB is running the linux-kernal exploit and may also be the size of the board to be soldered inside of the console too. Interesting stuff.

In fact, this may be nonsense as he says it doesn't require a device doesn't he?

The majority of people coming to GBAtemp are not coming to see who's showing off their findings. They come here to see what's been discovered and how they can apply it to their consoles. They're looking for things the can actually do to their own consoles. fail0verflow doesn't owe us anything, they're a great group but they have become notorious for showing off and not releasing, people here are mad because of that. You can't blame a guy for getting mad at the "look but don't touch" chick at the brothel...he's at a BROTHEL...why is this chick even here if she just showing off the boobies.

I don't know when you ran the surveys, I sure wasn't polled.

Many people here like to get news regarding developments in console hacking, and also regarding speeches and other means of communication. Not just the news about silver plate served hacks. I for once like to read these news, and I think many others also do.

However, they never posted anything here. Other people do. So your logic here fail, since they hack mostly for fun and actually show others it's possible.

That’s the beauty of opinions, we all have them. Do you have the correct polls that show I’m wrong?

Of course, I've polled one person and my results tell that 100% of the surveyed population like to read this kind of news.
As our statistics contradict, I'm calling yours wrong. /s

GBATemp's web goal does not indicate releases are required in order to be on the website. The forums are for discussion, and the website is for information, and a team showing off their skills is, by definition, information such as pinpointing releases is also information.

You clearly have no interest in the Switch or its games, so why do you even own one?

The last time I looked this was the "Switch - Hacking & Homebrew" forum section, so bedsides an interest in the obvious I enjoy the following franchises which will be on the Switch in the future: Pokemon, Bayonetta, New Super Mario Brothers, Donkey Kong, Smash Brothers in addition to Mario Kart, Fast RMX and a couple of indie titles which are already on the Switch.

So yes, my opinion of the Switch library currently been "limited" stands. You don't have to agree with my opinion, however you also don't have to totally derail this thread by selectively quoting things I post totally out of context either.

Feel free to private message me if you wan't to discuss this anymore, as I feel everything that needs to be said has been.

I never said anything of the sort. Read my comment again, this time with an objective mindset since I think you're twisting it a bit to fit your narrative. I'm not trying to shove my opinions down anyone's throat. It's my OPINION, like it or don't. Lets move one folks, or should I agree with you to "keep the peace". I am in agreement with the folks that see this as flaunting and teasing. You, as many others, see it as interesting news. We both have opinions, great, I don't want to think like you as well as you don't want to think like me end of story. Happy Hump Day!

So many butthurt people over there.
As a developer myself I really find F0F's work impressive. They can show what's possible. Sure, there may no actual use for Linux on a Switch, but neither it isn't necessary to run Doom on a toaster.

It's their work, they can decide if they want to release it or not. And tbh, if I were them I wouldn't release shit aswell. Why should I reward a bunch of toxic people? Look at those threads about the homebrew launcher and its delay. Again, so many butthurt people.

If you really want 'Linux on a Switch,' dig into programming and reverse engineering and do it yourself. And of course, you are needed to release all your work for free afterwards. Otherwise stop complaining about anyone because they don't owe you shit.

You are a developer and you need other people to show you what's possible??
The main reason people have issues with them is not because they don't release their shit. It's because they brag about their shit like an ass and then never release anything.
Sure, it's their work. They are not obligated to release anything. But they also don't have to brag about it. They intentionally choose to brag to a target audience of normal people which has no technical knowledge in hacking and can only expect to benefit from a release. They are using the community to get attention and create drama, and you are calling the community butthurt?

It's annoys me to see their shit posted everywhere. They just don't deserve any attention.

... woah. I wasn't expecting such a reaction when just stating information is sufficient enough for Gbatemp. Every one is absolutely allowed to have their opinions.
