Nick Mc Connell and Michael Smith have ported FAangband, an Angband variant, on DS. This version is for me the best rogue-like available on DS : more interesting than Powder or Nethack . The game seems difficult to learn but after few hours it become very exciting. The gameplay of Michael Smith is excellent : stylus to run, possibility to redefine all key bindings ...

You can download last version on Michael Smith site and discuss on Angband forum.

No screens? Shame!

But seriously, this is needed. I'm afraid that nethackDS is rather crappy, hard to see, and has other problems.

Thank you! Looks amazing.

Unfortunately, on my CycloDS latest firmware, it goes to a black screen when run. Any ideas?

looks like crap i'll stick with powder

Trying to get people angry on purpose much? That's what roguelikes are SUPPOSED to look like.

ON-TOPIC:
I played it, and I love it. Usually I don't like Angband variants, but FAangband beats Powder and NethackDS hands down. (Ugh, Nethack. Woot, ADOM!)
-Excellent interface
-Swapping screens to get to the touchscreen keyboard is well implemented
-zoom is welcome
-Extensive list of options

10/10 from me, definitely!

Did you copy the "faangband" directory into the top level directory of your card ? If yes you can report the problem to Nick on gbadev Forum.

Oh man. As you have correctly guessed, I was simply not bright enough to put the directory in there.

This game gets everything right, readability, ease of use, and bringing back that rougelike feeling. Fanfuckingtastic job.
