Hardware F2A USB Cable

Can I use the F2A USB cable to read and write saves to original carts?
I would like to be able to read a Pokemon Emerald save to the computer, use it in an emulator, then put it back on.
Is that possible?

Also is there any emerald save editor like Diamon and Pearl for the DS have (Pokesav)

As far as I know, you can dump a game and it's save file from a rezl cartridge but you can't write anything into it.
I have the F2A Linker and I dumped a few games and save files myself, and I was able to write them on my F2Advance 256Mbit pro, but that's because the cart was ment to be accessed that way.
I'm pretty sure you can't do that with an original game.
