A friend of mine sold me his WiiU with a couple of games. Unfortunately one of the games (MK8) wont load because the disc has a small notch. The disk is recognized by the WiiU but the game gets stuck at the first loading screen. Other games work just fine. The console isn't hacked yet but will be soon.

Can I still extract the disk key (that file called title.tik???) from the damaged disk somehow and then inject it into a seperate .wud-File?

I'd take try and get the disc repaired, some places do it but if there's a notch out of it, the game data might not be 100% complete

if you have luck you can rip the title.tik with tik2sd and then get the game from Ninendo's update server. With the title.tik it is possible to install the game

Thanks, I'm gonna try this first.

Yeah, thats what I'm fearing too, the notch is like 0,5*2 mm big, but that can be enough to destroy a disk:(

The important question is can you see the mark on the other side of the disc? If not then the metallic data layer has not been damaged and can be repaired.
Doesn't bluray discs have a protective layer making it more or less impossible to fix?

Yes, sorry should have clarified that
Good thing is then that it's probably reparable and tik2sd should work for you.

They can be fixed with a good buffing wheel and being rather careful. Sometimes you might have to fill it in with an epoxy or something of the sort.
Ah okey, never repaired a bluray before, heck I don't even have a scratch on any of them. Thanks for the info!

This is a nice exercise, but what version of MK8 does that ticket site not already have the ticket from?

Aren't the tickets unique per disc?
Per titleID (title and region), not individual disc. But your disc is damaged in the content area, so you're not going to be extracting/installing from that disc anyway. If the disc were damaged in the ticket area, it wouldn't have launched to the splash screen at all. You really don't need anything from that disc. If you want to extract the ticket for the fun and understanding of it, then go ahead and grab it with tik2sd. You'll still have to get the files from somewhere else. (NUS, with one of several tools, or a USB-ready download of the title from some other site.)

I'm so pumped, NCAA football video game is back after a 10 year hiatus, coming to SeriesS/X, PS5 in July.
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Wish they would let us play the NCAA football 14 on newer xbox, its one of the only games I love and own on disc still, that is not back compatible, bs.

@BigOnYa My dad recently bought a spare Series X off of me, got game pass, and saw Madden '24 on Game Pass, decided to try it out.

...He was a bit taken aback by the 60GB download size. Poor guy's still living in the 90s!

@K3Nv2 He was looking into consoles for his house anyway (for my younger siblings and himself) and I had a spare XSX and Switch I ended up selling him at pretty steep cuts. I would just give them to him, but I did buy them with the intent to sell them... and college is super expensive.
