Hardware External HDD Size Limit

What is the maximum size that the ps3 can read for an external hdd, I've just bought a 4tb and its not working, Im wanting to have it formatted to NTSF to store my isos.

Also do i need one with a power adaptor?

If anybody can recommend a drive for me id appreciate it.

According to this: https://www.psdevwiki.com/ps3/Harddrive#External_storage the max capacity for external storage/USB HDDs is approx. 8 TB, but I'm not sure why 4 TB wouldn't work. Does it have to be NTFS or FAT32? It may have to be formatted to another filesystem for the PS3 to recognize it according to this dev wiki, but I could be wrong.

I've tried to read that but it goes over my head i dont know what most of it means. Thanks for your help but i dont know what im doing, i need a response from somebody who knows a definate answer who has done it themselves

It might need the EXT2 or whatever format, and not the standard ones that Windows usually uses. Partition Magic and easeus partition master might be able to help, IDK.
