Hacking external HDD help! :o

Hi I just bought an external hdd and I have successfully converted it to fat32 my problem is I downloaded a lot of games/pkg files, I extracted it from my pc and transferred it to my external HDD GAMEZ folder however it cannot be detected by my ps3 :l
Is it not possible to play pkg files on external HDD? my ps3 phat has 70gb only my cfw is rogero 4.55
Please help me Thanks!
