im considering getting an external hard drive as I only have a 40gb one as of now and I have 2 operating systems on it. So that leaves me no space at all for my windows games as my windows partition is extremely small. I am looking for one that is compatible with linux and my wii. It doesn't have to be that big. I prefer speed to size. I also would prefer that it doesn't need an external power supply.

If anyone can recommend a good one thats cheap that would be great. Thank you

Externals that have PC HDDs inside usually have to be externally powered. They would also be cheaper. However, if you are hell bent on having an external drive with no external power, you can buy a laptop HDD and buy a case for it like this.

You can probably still get more storage for cheaper using PC drives though. Just my $.02

I got a wd my passport essential 250gb and it works great for me so far

Good stuff. Just keep that info for future external needs. I dont buy externals anymore and I usually steer other people that way as well.

Get a SeaGate Replica, 250 GB, only for $129.99
Go Here
I read somewhere that seagates have bad compatablity with wii backups and besides my wd was only $100
Where did you hear that? Seagates are top-of-the-line hard drives, but I WD is ok as well, its growing in popularity

I know seagates are great for pc only but wiis are kinda finicky about hard drives. WD works great for both
