I know that spotpass is the feature that company will use on the nintendo 3ds to distribute messages, dlc and stuff like that. But do I need to go to BestBuy each time I wanna get (let say) DoA:D costumes distributed by spotpass ?? Seems not to me since I got 2 messages from Capcom and one from Koei. In Koei's message, there is a list of 5 date, each represent a day and costume to be downloaded.

Sorry for the last paragraph, my main question is, when does the 3ds check for updates ?? My streetpass is enable for DoA:D and works fine with my friend (sending duel).

As long as you have wifi set up, you don't need to go to Best Buy. Though I think there's going to be some exclusive content offered there in the coming weeks.

Yush. Nintendo Zone's do exclusive content and demo's.
SpotPass is just to get more people connected to the Internet.
Instead of needing your own wifi access point, SpotPass allows you to use compatible access points around the world without setting anything up.

It's like you find an unsecured network (say MacDonald's) and you automatically connect to it without setting it up as an access point, like Nollog said.
Doubt it.

Emphasis on the UNSECURED part.

I doubt Nintendo will do that.
Most likely they will use encryption.
WPA2 probably, and most likely you won't connect to unsecured networks automagically.

It's not a Sony.

They have deals with at&t and bestbuy in the US, foneraBT in the UK, and they'll probably have deals with other places depending on the region to set up spotpass access points.

love the Sony reference...

The ATT thing has been stated as a no setup required thing. How that is gonna work exactly I'm not sure, probably just like it did on the DS when the McDonalds deal came up. But I only did that like... once, cause a McDonalds near me is rare so I don't remember what that was like. And kiosk stuff will honestly probably be a 3DS locked up somewhere with a game card in it putting out a signal just like StreetPass with the special unlockable stuff just like they did with DS Download Stations.

I've already gotten DoA DLC in my own home and at my work too so it doesn't matter for those as long as you have Wi-Fi. Keep your eyes open though for info about them doing stuff at kiosks, I wouldn't be too surprised to see something at some point.

SpotPass could actually be great if it were like the appstores to offer updates to the games by the developers (like fixing possible bugs, adding more characters etc.)

I have not received any SpotPass stuff from any developer as of now.

You should be able to, unless it's for a limited time only.

It is for a limited time only. The costumes will be given out twice though, so you can still get them if you miss them the first time around.

Right now, there is suppose to be a new costume today, but I haven't get a flashing blue light yet.

Actually I think the DOA costumes aren't causing the blue light on the 3ds to flash.
I think it only flashes if you get a message notification. The costumes aren't being sent out with messages, so there is no flash.

You are right. I let my DoA:D cart in the 3DS, and in the beginning of the evening I opened 3DS and the icon had a little blue spot flasing, but no light.

Case close !

Thank you all.
