Error: White screen when starting GBA virtual console on 3DS

Good evening... I have a problem when I try to start a certain game, specifically Klonoa Heroes - Densetsu no Star Medal (With the translation patch). When I convert the rom to .CIA with the program “New Super Ultimate Injector for 3DS”, install it on my 3DS and start it, the screen goes blank (with some glitched sound from time to time)

I really don't know how to fix it and that problem happens only with that game, the other games work perfectly but I have found out and I know that the translation patch works perfectly for the 3DS

If anyone knows what the solution is, please could you tell me??

(Sorry for the poor English I have, this is not my main language and I use the translator in some parts)

I think it might be the ROM. I've messed with GB, GBC, and GBA ROM hacks, and a bad patch or ROM can cause problems like that. I would try a different rom or re-patch the rom.

I did what you said, I installed different roms but I still get that error. Although I do not think the problem is the roms since the game works perfectly in emulator or the programs I used to apply the patch and convert it to .CIA and much less that it is not compatible with the 3DS (Check the patch notes and says that it is compatible here an image).

I have no idea if I am doing something wrong when I apply the translation patch, there are two files and according to what I understood I must install the one that says “SCRAM”.

I think it lasts indeterminately, I have started the game again and left it for about 30 minutes and the screen is still blank and with the glitched sounds playing exactly every 25 seconds. To think of the malfunction of the game, the 3DS responds without problem.

I have had the injected English translation of Rhythm Heaven on the gba and never had that issue. I can test this out and see I get the same issue and I'll update you when I get to it.

You can try open_agb_firm.
128k flash saves are not supported on 3DS, so games that use them will have issues. Not sure if that's your issue. Edit: Probably not since the creator says it works.

I got it to work. I would try to use a different patching software like Lunar IPS. I have noticed that when I import too many ips files when importing them into the rom it can cause issues. I woulder if you need to apply the SRAM patch first then English patch.

I opened it with open_agb_firm and it worked almost correctly (although, when trying to save the game the game got stuck and I had to turn off the console)

Perhaps the non sram patched version will work better with open_agb_firm. Strange the creator seems to say it works fine though...

Well... I installed the version without the scram patch and although it works... the patch does not work and it is in its original language...

It's also strange that it doesn't work properly when I've seen other users test the game on the 3DS with no problems. I'll see if I contact the creator of the translation patch to explain my problem and see if it really is compatible with the 3DS at the moment.
