Serious ? I think not.

Yes I'm serious. It's a header, it includes the name of the game. If Nintendo can detect that you are using a public header, it means they can read the header you are using online. If you are playing a MK8 ROM online, but you're using a private header for another game, how on earth can people think that is "safe"? If there is some sort of logic behind why people think this is safe please fill me in.
That Nintendo will notice if the header you are using is also being used by someone else at the same time, but will not notice if the header is for the wrong game.... as I said, where is the logic?

That's the thing, we're assuming Nintendo does not know which game each header belongs to, when it makes more sense that they do and just don't care enough to do anything... yet.

Hi, I'm still new to this header and private dump stuff and I've got a question.
I use a sky3ds blue button and got unbanned today.
How do you take out the header for the private dump? I do not own another 3ds version lower than (9.2 I think?), nor a gateway card
so is there any other way to extract the private headers from one 3ds game I bought for $3?

After that, what do I do with the rom patcher to inject the headers into my roms? All rom patcher makes are blank .txt files... when I tried
with their public headers.

Thanks so much!

Your out of luck. You need a gateway compatibile 3ds to extract your own private header.

Well not really...you can buy them from someone

Ok so I got a spare 3ds from my friend with a version lower than 9.2 (i think or lower) what do I do next?
How do I make a private dump and take out the Cartridge and Chip Id?

  • Enter gateway menu in any way you can.
  • Put a game into the 3ds while in gateway menu.
  • click backup game cartridge (the game will be on the sd card when it's done).
  • Download gateway rom patcher on the computer.
  • Load your newly made rom backup in gateway rom patcher.
  • click export header (You should now get a small file like 10kb or something)
  • Load your rom that needs a private header in gateway rom patcher.
  • Click import header (It might give an error, just click ok).
  • Click save
This is coming from the top of my head so the import/export button might be named something else

Remember you need to own the 3ds game that you are backing up. Do not sell it when your done.

Thank you so much, but to enter the gateway menu, you need a gateway card right? Because I only own a sky3ds blue button..

You don't need the gateway cart to enter the gateway menu. You need the gateway cart to launch gateway mode

I´ve been playing for two weeks using public header and no banning.
I´m using a non popular header.
Playing MK7, Heroes of Ruins, Super Street Fighter, SSB...

Sorry to disturb you again, but I've looked everywhere on how to launch gateway menu and I cannot figure out how to run it without the gateway card.

open the internet browser and go to go.gateway-3ds.com

you need to put the launcher.dat that can be downloaded from the gateway website on your sd card first.

Just got banned, hope it's a 15 day. Using a private header, second time going online whilst in a game.

Can't access friends list too. hmm =/

When did this happen? Did you update the 3ds to 9.6? What kind of header you were using and what games were you playing online? Did you ever in your life used a public header? If so, when was the last time you used a public header online? Sky3ds or gateway?

Because each key has a unique key in the header. We assume Nintendo reads this key and verifies it is only being used once rather than what it belongs to. If anything using one that is private at least helps us stay under the radar.

It happened last night. I was using a private header ripped from a pokemon game, haven't used the header for other games, just MH4. The last time I used it was downloading LDC for mh4 like a month ago. Tried to go online last night and I was benned. Gateway emunand 9.5, sysnand 9.0.

Could you please double check if the game you went online has the header you said and not a public header?
About the header question, I would like to express my opinion. Most probably, the user who supposedly got banned using one of his private header got banned because the header was "public" even if it's his own game.
Let me explain better: once you go online with a game that has online features, (we can assume) Nintento keeps a record of how many times/players used the same header and the relative game, so even if you used once YOUR virgin game online and then ripped the header to use it on another game, you're basically using an header that has become PUBLIC.

I don't have the tools on my computer now to check that but I am 99% sure it is my private header.

Hey, I am thinking now. If I was playing game and my wifi was just on but I wasn't doing anything in the game that requires online involvement like downloading or using in-game online services. Could that be another reason why I got banned? I may have had wifi on for a couple seconds while playing another game, that's the only other thing I can think of.
