er, isnt that called planting crops? I have no problems with that at all. In fact, I have a peach tree in my back yard so I guess Im "copying food" right now.
In fact there are certain corporations (Monsanto) that would seize your property if some of their seeds somehow fell on to your lawn and started growing. All I'm saying is that you should probably worry about your fellow man well before you worry about the profits/bottom line of some power-hungry corporate entity. Piracy isn't even in the top 100 problems facing our world today.

lol, when did I ever say that I cared about corporations? All I'm saying is that if you're ever prosecuted for making an exact copy of something that is copyrighted, it is not realistic to think you will win.

Depends who's peach it is.
Would Mario's Peach do?

getting slightly off topic now guys... I fell for this subject yesterday!

seems like Nintendo have resorted to banning customers who use "pirated" material maybe because they just cant block the use of Sky3ds? there has to be something that the sky3ds does to mimic the normal game cart which Nintendo cant block other wise it may have adverse effects on all other carts?

Who ever earlier on suggested that if we could find a way to "spoof" the ID header every time we load up the ROM, that would be really good.

Doesn't mean they can't block Sky3DS.

Back then iirc it was mentioned that sky3DS is totally detectable.

Think of this as a move, and they're crawling towards checkmate.

Ok guys so I tested Fantasy Life with a public header on Sky 3DS yesterday while connected to wifi BUT playing only offline, played for 40 minutes or so, then took off Sky and put in an original copy of Pokemon AS, played online without a problem. Let some time pass and played other games on Sky (mostly Persona Q) then went back to pokemon again and connected just fine, friends list working and all that.

So yesterday was fine and not banned at all, gonna try that again today and see what happens.

Can't nintendo just ban people who play eshop/cias and who don't have NNID? I don't think you can legally get an eshop title onto a 3ds unless that 3ds has a NNID

That would get Nintendo in a lot of trouble.
You can purchase titles and then unlink the system from your NNID. It doesn't mean that you have any less right to play those games, since you bought them. Banning people for that reason would open a can of worms that Nintendo probably wants to keep closed.

Since you have to use an NNID to originally download the eshop title and the NNID was linked to your console ID at one point, couldn't they just cross-reference console IDs that have license to eshop titles?

This would cut out the need for them to check for an NNID altogether.

I wasn't saying the Sky3ds is undetectable, but no one actually knows how the sky3ds cart works yet do they? my point is that if Nintendo does something to stop the physical sky3ds cart from working, there's a possibility of it causing issues for legitimate carts.

Whether its detectable is irrelevant.

if I brought a 3ds and linked it to my NNID and purchased games from the eshop then I deceided to sell my 3ds for a 3ds XL and buy GW then install the ROM versions of my eshop purchases without linking my NNID... then cross ref the console ID wouldn't work as someone else would have that old 3ds now and Nintendo would of incorrectly taken action on an innocent customer.

I hope that makes sense :P

I'm sure they could, but can't you transfer your data to another console without using a NNID? In the event someone were to do that and wound up getting banned for it, Nintendo would have some explaining to do.

I'm not trying to justify pirating games and getting around Nintendo's safeguards, but Nintendo also has to avoid stepping on the toes of any legitimate customers.

I'm not disagreeing with you, you make a good point. Don't you need an internet connection to do a system transfer though? There might be a license transfer to the new console ID at this point as well.
(I'm not really sure about the internet thing, so feel free to correct me.)

I'm not really experienced with system transfers, as I've only ever had one 3DS, so I really have no idea about the process.

You do need an internet connection, but I don't believe it requires a NNID. It's been so long since I've performed a system transfer, I don't remember the whole process.

Okay, common place people won't know how to works, no doubt.
But the 3dsbrew people probably does.
and so does Nintendo.

I can't say I know how it works, hence I can't deny the possibility.

That's probably why they made the header ban a "first step" to 3DS piracy reduction.

It will work. It's just unknown how safe the use of mismatched headers is (no ban so far).

EDIT: Uhm, but you want to extract the header from your own retail OoT cartridge, right? Not from that headerless scene dump you show on the picture?

Yes my own dump.

I'm playing smash bros 3dz online my kid icarus header. (but both games online)

Alright, then it will work just like any other private header. If the cart size mismatches, the ROM patcher will auto-fix it.
