From what i understand, we still dont have an answer if nintendo is banning 3ds due to piracy and the error has just happened to tc. correct?

This thread is hillarous.

This is not a ban lol.
Well, this is pretty definitive unless you have some facts that contradict it:

Okay, spoke to nintendo. It's definitely a ban. I don't know how long for and what for, maybe they're starting to crackdown as I use a lot of public headers instead of my own. So beware I guess. Told I will have the full reasons within 5 days.

shamzie Just curious, what was your secret base greeting?
If you're not at liberty to say, was it vulgar and what were the vulgarities used?

Well, if this is really a ban for multiple people connecting online with the same cartridge ID.... that was kinda expected. We only didn't know WHEN it would strike.

Tbh, in my opinion, you shouldn't be able to play a pirated game online anyway. Even most modern PC games that are pirated have the online features gimped. After all, allowing people to play pirated games online on a console seems to be a small step away from online cheating, and well... fuck that.

Well yes and no. Who was he talking to? A level 1 tech support guy? He didn't know enough to be able to explain why Shamzie was "banned". Rather than say "it's definitely a ban" I would phrase it "the first person I talked to when I called Nintendo thinks it is a ban but doesn't have a clue why. I would be surprised if he makes more than $8 an hour and his boss wants him to get people off the call within 4 minutes if possible."

A possibility yes, but I wouldn't call it definitive.

Those are two different things, really. Devices to cheat with retail cartridges have been around a lot longer.

Error Code: 002-0102

The Nintendo 3DS is unable to connect to an Access Point. What to do will depend on where you are connecting from:

Wireless home network
Hotspot

Connecting from a wireless home network:
Make sure that the Nintendo 3DS system is within 30 feet of the wireless access point and facing in its general direction.

Make sure that any other interfering devices, such as microwaves and cordless phones, are turned off.

Connecting from a Hotspot
Ensure the Hotspot location does not require an internet browser to setup an account, accept a use agreement, or enter a password before accessing their Wi-Fi service. If the location requires any of these items, you will not be able to connect to the internet with your Nintendo 3DS system.

Make sure that the Nintendo 3DS system is within 30 feet of the wireless access point and facing in its general direction. Signal strength can vary, depending on where the access point's signal is coming from. (Please do not sit or stand in places that will interfere with the location's customers or staff.)

Orient the Nintendo 3DS so that your body or other objects (such as walls, plants, furniture, and other people) are not blocking the signal. Also, make sure there is no interference from wireless phones (cell phones are okay).

If the connection continues to fail, this Hotspot may have their router set up in a manner that is not compatible with the system. We recommend trying a different location.

also it happens if the game is not up to date when trying to access online.

Well they told him they'd give him the reasons for the ban within 5 days. That's pretty confident.

I'm well aware of that, but allowing people to connect to online services using a modified ROM is a little different than a save editor.

He's tried all the possible fixes, though. Nintendo likely doesn't have an error code for a banned NNID yet, so they just prevent him from connecting to the online functionality of games using that one.

Different, but they can potentially allow you to do the same things as far as online cheating goes.

Regardless, that wasn't the main point of my post, which was that you shouldn't be allowed to play online on a game that you didn't pay for. I honestly hope they do end up auto-banning people using public headers. Haters gonna hate.

That's passing the buck. :)
Nah, it's building a case so that he can't tell them that he did nothing wrong.

Ah I didn't realize your issue was with piracy more than cheating. Haters gonna hate indeed.

I mean, don't get me wrong, many people pirate and some for decent reasons, but to feel so entitled that you should get every feature that a paying customer got, that's just twisted to me. Also cheating online sucks too. Lol

Oh boo whoo.. People playing online with bootlegs... Oh shut up! Don't hate us hate the makers of said exploits...
