Hey guys,
I've come into possession of a RVL-001 (KOR) that brings up the dreaded Error:003
After some reading I was able to boot into "Recovery Mode" using a third-party GameCube controller (SaveMiiFrii ???) to find that it shows "4.3(USA)" ... meaning that this Korean Wii was probably updated with the wrong region/language ... which means it had been modded
It's my understanding that the only current fix for my situation would be to somehow autoboot into SSBB to use an exploit called Smash Stack to reinstall homebrew and repair the CIOS
Some old guides show burning a couple autoboot discs of Mario Kart and Smash Brawl ... others mention being able to use the PAL version of SSBB (which I don't quite understand) ... either way, my main question is about autobooting in general
I have a copy of SSBB-PAL as well as a DVD burner ... is the Wii able to play burnt discs on its own? ... or is this the sole reason for the "mod chip" I see in most tutorials?
Without a mod-chip is there any other way to autoboot into my PAL version of Brawl?
When in Recovery Mode, if I insert the SSBB-PAL disc it will spin up and then stop ... if I insert any other NTSC disc it will continue to spin and go to a blank screen (I assume this is being held up by the disc check)
Any help or better explanation is always much appreciated
