Hardware error 0001

I have a second older wii with the d2b board and wiikey. Most older backups work well, however anything newer gives me this error 0001 code and says unauthorized device detected. I unfortunately have updated to 3.3 so what if anything can I do to fix this? Thanks for any help you can give.

you should update your wiikey to the latest firmware.
if the update disc doesn't work on 3.3, use the downgrader to go back to 3.2

I had that when my WiiKey was on 1.9b. I updated it and it all runs fine, even Mario Kart Wii. You could always boot the games from Gecko OS.

First, set up homebrew on your Wii
Then, install custom IOS 249
Then install and run the downgrader
Use the search on this forums and look in the Hacking section, you'll find topics on all steps.

i put the card in my wii and run the homebrew channel .I just ran this to see what happens and it would seem that in some versions of the homebrew channel you can't see the installer app. help?

If I load the disc from Gecko OS, it says no dvd

just grab the latest homebrew channel, that's version beta8 at this moment. Place in in its own directory under \APPS, for example \APPS\IOSINSTALLER
Also make sure you rename the file to BOOT.DOL or BOOT.ELF
you'll also need to put the required .wad file in the root of the sd card.

Copy the file IOS37-64-v2070.wad to the root of your SD card
Create a new folder in the apps folder on your SD card called CustomIOS, so the root of your SD card hould look like this...

IOS37-64-v2070.wad
Apps
../CustomIOS

Then copy the file cIOS37_rev3-Installer.dol to the CustomIOS folder you just created, then rename the file to BOOT.dol

Now put the card in your wii and run the homebrew channel. You should now see the REV3 installer application in the list of apps to run. Select it and follow the on screen instructions.

To get the downgrader to run do the same thing. Create a folder called Downgrader in the Apps folder, so you will then have:-

IOS37-64-v2070.wad
Apps
../CustomIOS
../Downgrader

then copy the file cIOS_Downgrader_v1.1.dol to the new folder you just created. Rename the file as BOOT.dol and run from the homebrew channel.

Change it to boot.dol from BOOT.dol. It might not do anything, but maybe you should just take the caps out of it.
