FromSoftware has revealed the release date for, Elden Ring: Nightreign, its standalone multiplayer co-op action survival game set in the Elden Ring universe. For the occasion, a new trailer was aired:

Teaming up in squads of three – or daring to go solo – players must choose one of eight Nightfarers, each with different abilities, to outlast a three day-and-night cycle. Players must make split-second decisions about combat and exploration across a map that can fluctuate with different biomes, weapons, and enemies in order to become stronger and outrun the encroaching circle of fire to be able to take on terrifying bosses at the end of each day. This culminates on the third day, where if players were successful in surviving the night, they must take on one of the Nightlords – new bosses for this version. Nightfarers must learn to cooperate to take down these challenges, combining their unique abilities together for an unparalleled experience in the ELDEN RING universe. All is not lost for those who fall in defeat; unsuccessful runs will grant players relics to allow them to customise and upgrade their characters tailored to their personal play styles.

Elden Ring: Nightreign will launch on May 30 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via Steam. Pre-orders are now available on these platforms.

I have 1 friend I can consistently play games with... no duos play nukes the game for me and that's a shame. I have other friends but life doesn't always let us all play together so thanks for offing yourself from my wishlist.

Three of four classes revealed so far look amazing. We've got Van Wydler, Harvey Birdman, and Zullie the Witch. Total of eight available at launch too, so we've only seen half.

Here we go with roguelikes again. This bullshit will never end.
There's no shortage of other games that will hold the hand of skill deficient players like you.

Super stoked for this, my only real disappointment is that it seems to be either one or three player... I tend to play games nowadays in either twos or fours. I'm hoping at least duo play will be possible, but the wording doesn't give me the hope I was wanting.

Either way I'll play it to death solo.

yeah, forgot about that restriction, heard they're thinking of implementing a 2 player option, but not at launch unfortunately, so I'll be waiting for that update to get the game

Well, the first test window was a bust, everybody got repeatedly booted to the title screen almost as soon as they entered matchmaking. Did at least have a training ground to try out the four current classes, and they all felt great. Hopefully they've resolved the issue in time for the second test window.

There we go, buttery smooth for test window two. Game is a ton of fun, but definitely tuned on the harder side so that you'll need a number of things to go right during a run to beat the night lord. Got the only one available in the beta down to about 25% with my third group. Even Souls vets will probably take a little time to adjust, the game plays very fast, almost frantic at times. You get randomized weapons and consumables, sometimes with unique properties, and some weapons have reworked movesets. I've also seen at least a few bosses/mini-bosses new to Nightreign, so it's not like it's all recycled content there.
