Hacking EASY Wii browser!

I just thought of something...
We can surf the Wii Shop with a customized Firefox. Can do use this hack to access Wii Shop from the same URL? And can we buy VC games this way?
Pretty useless, but still interesting.
The main reason is if we learn the Japanese Wii Shop-URL, then maybe we can using this hack to surf to the japanese Wii Shop and buy Japanese VC titles that are not released in US yet...

I think it'll work on linux too... that's how I edited some stuff when I used Ubuntu, and the file's in the same spot probably. Damn you /etc/!

Edit: Could someone put this on Digg or Engadget or whatnot? I want to test my bandwidth.

It has java, but you can only point and click.

It has no flash. :'(

for some reason, when i tried this, it didnt work. all i got was an error that it couldnt connect to the server. i dragged and dropped the hosts file in the same directory you stated in the instructions. even opened it in notepad to make sure it was the right one. but it didnt work. my usb wifi connector isnt defective, as it still works with the shop channel, message board, etc.

That's a pretty odd size.

Is it safe to say designing an Opera Wii Browser website should use those dimensions?

Also, do you think while in flash the Wii hand cursor will take on the cursor specified in the flash file (if it is) IE:

hmm, i changed the ip of what google is supposed to be to 64.233.167.99. the shop channel took me to googles home page, the loading/connecting circle was still on the screen. also, when i tried to enter text into the search bar, nothing happened. after a while, i got the same error. well, at least ive made some progress. i also tried this with yahoo's ip address and the same thing happened. went to the page, unable to do anything, then error

Has anyone tried the hosts file with Datel's Wifimax? My wii shop still brings me to wii shop. I'm guessing nintendo's dongle connects differently for wifi.

I suppose I'll try the DNS method later.
