Hi!
When playing games which of these options do you usually choose and why? Is your choice based on your skills?

I always go Normal, it allows me to have fun with the game, while still being not easy.

That's what usually do as well. However I recently played a game whose Normal difficulty is unforgiving and Im considering switching to easy. I like the game but I'm not having fun at all.

Depends on the game.
If it's a JRPG I never go harder than normal if I have the option cause I fucking suck at them.
If it's a shooter / adventure-something game I'll usually go hard
I'm glad I chose to play Doom 2016 on a harder difficulty. What a fucking rush that was, and felt so rewarding.

Wait you play Doom on hard? Handheld or docked? How do you keep your health (which usually goes down like nothing)

Didn't realize this was in the Switch section. Thought it was just a general gaming question.
I probably wouldn't do hard on Doom on Switch haha. Did it on PC where you know, you can properly aim.

Ah! Makes sense.

Different games for different purposes, and I enjoy both casual and competitive/tryhard titles. Obviously I play Dark Souls/SSBU for a different reason than I play Katamari/Stardew Valley for. All four are still phenomenal games nonetheless.

Dark Souls is really unforgiving!! I tried but couldn't put out with the slow and difficult pace.

Yea, if that's ever the case switching to easy would be more like the normal mode

Usually Normal is what the dev pretend to show us, Hard is a ficticie reimagination of the original concept, but this is only a option and some one can enjoy the hard mode more than the Normal mode and is fine, i like the options and i try to enjoy the games on the dev vision and then on my way if i can.

One does not play "easy" or "hard"! One does play "casual" or "Dark Souls"! :D

Edit:

That definitly sounded bether in my head. ^^

Always as hard as possible (possible for me, not as option in the game). I want a challenge, every time. :)
If I can choose between easy, normal, hard, extrem I will play on hard.

Edit: At the moment I'm playing Mutant Year Zero on Extrem, just because the developer recommended it in the description.

See? I'm starting to realize that what's recommended is not always what's best if it should end with frustration.

I usually choose "Normal." Easy I think is for people who like to casually play through their game without a real challenge. Almost like watching a movie.

"Normal" is usually a decent but not terribly difficult challenge for me. If it's a game I'm really good at I might go back and choose hard later, but it's kind of rare. By the time I've beaten a game on normal, I'm pretty much done playing it.

That's true, but I'm really rarely frustrated because of too hard games. I like that. If it's too hard I have no problem to choose a easier difficult.

It depends on what I'm playing, but generally I leave it on normal or whatever the default is and adjust accordingly if it's too easy or too difficult.

I've decided to play all FPS games on easy (even if WII makes fun of you) cause I can't hope to achieve the desired level of precision with the aiming.
