I think it's a pretty safe conclusion to make from the EA tweet. They need to drive more people to the Origin client and this should do that.

Ya, I'm thinking it will be the same as Ubisoft. Buy the game on Steam, but still has to be launched with Origin.

Wonder if they will do a split release (first two weeks Origin only, second Steam + EGS + whatever else) or something similar.

I’m really curious what would make them do a 180 on this.

IIRC they initially left because EA wanted 100% of the profits from in-game microtransactions, so there was probably a deal made regarding those where Valve takes a much lower cut or no cut at all.

Will be nice to launch Apex Legends from Steam and maybe buy Jedi Fallen Order. Respawn is the only part of EA left which is worth a damn.
