A few questions:

What is the recommend Brand of DVD to use when you are Burning a PS2 Backup? I heard Verbatim and TDK are great brands. What type of DVD should i use? again i heard DVD-R is best.
Finally, Can i change the burn speed or does it have to stay at a certain speed?

I'm planning to get a Memor32 card.

If you shop at SVP.co.uk I highly recommend the bulkpaq orange (more like orangy/yellow). I got some of the x16 ones and they work on everything. Really cheap as well. Last time I looked I think it was around £5 for 50.

1. You answered it yourself. Verbatim, TDK, Sony.

2. I don't think it really matters. Either -R or +R. I use -R, no problems whatsoever.

3. You can change the speed. Usually, they go up to 16x or 20x. I just set my burning speed to "max".

Well, DVD+R discs are suppose to handle an extra bit for error correction while reading, thats why those are more expensive., I prefer them

About brands, I really don't know. Well just stay away from any Maxell disc.

For speed and since the days of the PSX, I recommend you burn backups at no more than 4X, otherwise for some reason but only on some cases, the PS2 will start skipping movies on that particular game.

Edit: Removed War's quote.

Wow, War came into this topic with ANSWERS! haha!

The ones I use are Verbatim DVD+R from Frys electronics. They work like a charm. I'm moving onto Maxell DVD+R's and they're treating me nice, even on Guitar Hero 3. On second glance, I noticed they're RW's....I could have sworn I picked up just R's from Frys when I got these...hrm

And I always burn at the slowest speed (usually 6X). I tried burning Rez.mds and it gave me a speed of 120X

best brand to buy I would say are Taiyo Yuden's with the TY03 dye, burnt on a Plextor 800a at the lowest possible speed (4x)

One more vote for Taiyo Yuden. Bought a 100pk when I first starting backing up games for the PS2 and have had zero issues. I'm on a mac and usually burn at 4x speed.

I use: Verbatim (MMC004) 16x DVD+R booktype setting: DVD-ROM burned at 12x with ImgBurn

Burning at min speed such as in the days of PSX is actually worst for the disc if you have a recent DVD burner, they have better error correction capabilities at mid to high speeds.

Taiyo Yuden is known to be the absolute best, then Verbatim.

Also, I'll second the idea that lower speeds hurt more than hurt.

I've actually had games not work at lower speeds, but then work a little higher.

But never had anything not work at 4x.

What. The. Fuck. Do you mean by this? BTW don't burn 16x media at anything slower than 8x. if your burn it at 4x it could be a little too slow for the disc and mess up the reading.
