Hacking Dumb question, but about updating CFW

I sometimes go a few months without playing Switch and forget how to update CFW and whatnot.

If I'm already on CFW, am I only updating the CFW and never the actual firmware itself?

If not, am I installing to the latest official firmware after updating to the latest CFW?

First update your cfw files atmosphere 0.10.1
Then update cfw with choidujour
Update patches
At last update ofw (optional as it is recommended to keep it as low as possible)
