Ducktales NES beta build discovered with unused prototype song in it

Even if you've never played Ducktales on the NES, or its remake, there's still a good chance you've heard one of the game's biggest legacies: the Moon Theme. And thanks to a new prototype build that was discovered and written about on The Cutting Room Floor, fans will be able to listen to a brand new-old track that never made it to the final build of the game. Dated February 5, 1989, the Ducktales beta cart dump predates the final release on the NES by around seven months, with quite a few changes and missing features, as they hadn't been developed yet. However, one thing that's exclusive to the prototype build is a song simply called Map. It sounds similar to the Stage Select theme from the retail version, but with more variation and detail. It's not known why the song was cut, but you can listen to it on YouTube.

I am surprised this song didn't make it to the remake. The original duck tales was fun, now it's so hard. I had tons of fun playing duck tales on game boy!

I remember being frustrated at the end of Ducktales 2 that one of the best tracks in the game plays only for this tiny, tiny section of a stage right before the final boss. Such a waste.

I am surprised this song didn't make it to the remake.
Why would it be in the Remastered version if it was in a prototype that no one on the dev team had access to?

Kotaku interviewed the producers of the NES Ducktales game.
Producer Darcene Lacey said they had originally an option for Scrooge to give up his fortune.

There were also additional edits, like changing the crosses Capcom originally put on coffins in the Transylvania stage.
As Lacey explained, “It just did not seem appropriate, so we changed them to ‘RIP.’”
In addition to that, “There was also originally an option for Scrooge to give up his fortune, but this seemed out of character, so we removed that.”
