I'm not sure if this was asked (or even possible) but I wonder if the 3DS homebrew could make use of the DSTWO+ hardware somehow? I know with ds homebrew it was possible but I wonder if it would be possible to use the hardware in 3DS mode?

Why would you need a flashcard to boot a CFW? It's like paying for something that's totally free FFS. All in all realistically speaking the DSTWO Plus should not cost more than an average DS flashcard since all the features it "provides" can be applied for a total sum of $0 and a hour of research.

The idea is the card would allow you to use the multi rom menu in CFW. I agree it is silly to pay $80 for a gateway card just for the convenience of being able to use .3ds files. But wouldn't you be happy to pay, say, $10 (if the DSTwo+ is $10 more than a regular DSTwo) for this convenience? Assuming you were going to buy a DSTwo anyway?

When I checked, the price was around £30 (even cheaper than standard DSTwo).
But now, after about a week, the price is around £50, like other 3ds carts.

I was tempted to buy one for the emulation since I noticed it was actually cheaper, but I guess I'll just grab a regular DSTwo instead.

If the DSTwo is acting in a manner similar to Sky3DS, then it might not be a good alternative to Gateway. One thing Gateway is good for is for rom hacks and while technically possible to do rom hacks on Sky3DS via CFW, it would be cumbersome to try it as you have to use retail encryption instead of zero key encryption since otherwise the game won't boot. To this day STILL no one has attempted to make a reverse version of CTR Decryptor that Decrypt9 and rxTools uses. If one was made, custom system titles and rom hacks on Sky3DS via CFW would become more of a thing. (modified system titles/custom ones need to use system fixed key. They must use this encryption as zero key encryption isn't allowed for system titles and unencrypted titles will not be usable either)

That way, Sky3DS and it's clones can have a purpose other then straight up piracy because piracy is really the only use Sky3DS/clones have right now.

Gateway gets around this by allowing zero key encryption which I believe was something that is normally only enabled on dev consoles which I guess would be the reason why Gateway mode is a separate thing from Classic mode since both retail key and dev key can't be active at the same time. Hence why you can't boot retail carts while in Gateway mode. That and what ever nonsense they do to the homemenu to facilitate their mult-rom menu which may also interfere with the booting of retail carts.

That has nothing to do with it. My point is that people are perfectly accepting of clones except when it comes to their favourite companies.

I personally find the crocodile tears for flashcart companies who base their whole business model on profiting from piracy to be quite amusing.

I think people were just expecting more from Supercard based on history, rather than a simple clone.

Just disapointing, even as a cheaper "Gateway", given the fate of all the clones (abandoned), doesn't seem like a wise investment to go with yet another (assuming we are going for a flashcart, of course there is the arguement that none are with cfw around).

My statement on that is this, again, DS is systems are no longer developed. They can clone all the DS flashcards they want, I need more contenders in the 3ds arena. So far the only 2 contenders are sky3ds and GW. They are the only true developer at the moment. People still buy clones so it doesn't even matter what is said here. What you don't get is that if SUPERCARD gets stuck on trying to update there card to support the latest firmware than you're stuck. Right now it doesn't matter because GW can't support any emunand firmware higher than 9.5 so that means supercard can bankroll on there cards until than.

Yeah, you read right. I said GW CANNOT SUPPORT EMUNAND HIGHER THAN 9.5 ON THE N3DS. So where did O3DS come from?
