Hacking DSTT Slow to save

Is this a common issue, or could something be wrong with mine? I'm certain that it's not a fake. I have an R4 (real, original) in addition, and that saves much faster. I switched to my DSTT because of compatibility issues. I tried YSMenu on the R4, but I had some sound issues in a few games. The DSTT doesn't have any sound issues with YSMenu, but it takes significantly longer to save. It's not a dealbreaker, but I'd like to fix it if possible. The long save times occur on both the official kernel as well as YSMenu.

Just for comparison, it takes 8 seconds to save in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Sky on the DSTT, and 3.5 seconds on the R4.

Well, I figured out a couple things. My DSTT works much faster on my slower 1GB card than it does on my faster 2GB card, while the R4 works at the same speed on either card. The R4 also only has sound glitches if I use YSMenu as a replacement firmware, not if I use it as a replacement for Moonshell.
