I have jotted down my ideas here.

DSMouse is a project I propose which enables you to use the touchscreen of your Nintendo DS as a mouse on the computer. A server program would be used to accept the commands from the DS and move the mouse.

The touchscreen would be used for moving the mouse For right handed people A would click, B would double-click For left handed people right on the D-pad would click, down on the D-pad would double-click

The backlight on the DS would be turned off to save power. The screens would be blank. Using the controls mentioned above you would control the mouse input of the computer.

The DS program would be as simple as possible. All it would do is transmit the current co-ordinates and two other values. 1 if a click has occurred, another if a double-click has occurred. A server program running on the host computer would pick up the co-ordinates, scale then up to fit the computer's resolution and move the mouse to that position. It would also simulate clicks at the right place and time.

1) Is it possible?
2) Would somebody be prepared to make the DS client?

I think I could have a go at the PC server...

Win2DS is an application for the Nintendo DS which uses a server and the DS's built in WiFi cabailities to connect to your Windows PC. You will need a DS that is able to run homebrew code in order to use this. It will eventually contain many useful remote operations to control your Windows PC, but for now it can act as a virtual mouse and keyboard, and can recieve screenshots of your desktop.
To run homebrew code, you will need a Flash card, such as the GBAMP, and use FlashMe, PassMe or WifiMe to get it to boot. You can also opt to use WifiMe to send the data to your DS wirelessly, in this case you don't need a Flash card.
