Hacking DSL vs PSP

psp's would be better if they either ditched print attracting gloss finish or they were kinda like an sp design, or a slide in screen coverup. DSL is still king tho

What is the point of this topic in a nintendo forum? There is no ds vs psp for just in a few months psp will be a memory that noone wants to remember, and the ds is the #1 system in all the world now not just japan anymore. Who buys a game system for emulation anyway? Also i would assume that anyone to post a topic like this must have emu on their pc, and personally i'll stick to mine if i wanted to play emulation like the way it was mean't to.

The psp is really a media centre. The screens brilliant for watching videos. Its got some great driving games on it as well. The DS lacks good driving games, apart from Mario Kart of course. Gaming wise the DS is 10x better that the PSP. Its not all about graphics but fast loading times and playability.

For me everything about a video game system (no matter if handheld or not) is about the games. In that case nothing can beat the DS(Lite)

i sold my psp but i'd really like to have it back now ;(
no good ds games out now - typical summer-hole - but also on other systems.
For multimedia I really recommend a PocketPC - it can do everything many times better than a psp - smaller, cheaper, much more powerful. (X51)
For emus I wanna buy a GP32 soon. Anyone has a GP32 here?

buy a GPX2 from GPX2.com It's the updated version of the GP32, more powerful, plays DivX videos and has tv out

Oh and I know DS games are lacking a bit now but we've got Starfox, Zelda, Final Fantasy and erm.. cough pokémon round the corner

Sometimes I wish I had my PSP again to play games like Socom and sometimes I really hate friends codes and wish nintendo had an xbox live system but I'd still keep my DS over my PSP anyday.

PSP is better for me its got a lot more of what I really want which is RPG's, recently I havent even picked up my DS except when NSMB came out and that hardly lasted long plus the DS line up isnt looking to good for the near future either, PSP on the other hand has VP, Blade Dancer, and Def Jam all out today alone.

The DS's wifi gameplay is far better though since PSP has only really had local wifi play rather than online wifi play.

DS is the better one.. Sold my PSP just to get one. PSP doesn't have a lot of quality games when compared to the DS..

Well here's my two cents, I own a PSP and a DS Lite and they both have there strong points.

The DS has alot of great innovative games that make use of the stylus and mic. Plus you can play your "backed up" games really easy without having to worry about firmware this and downgrade that. Also the games are not that big so you can put more in a memory card than you can with a PSP. Now with audio if you get moonshell then it will play music really well. On the other hand I have tried the movie playback with moonshell and it is not something that I am interested in. It just seems that the DS screen was not intended to play video. As far as homebrew goes for me at least moonshell and the NES emulator are the only things that I like. Lastly there is the load time on the games, With the DS I can pick it up and in a matter of seconds I can be playing a game with no load times.

The PSP does have a few good games but they are few and far between mostly ports of PS2 games. Playing the "backed up" games does require a little effort. You have to make sure you have the right firmware and if not you can downgrade then you get another program to emulate higher firmware so you can play your game. Also there is the size problem, the games are huge I backed up my Me and My Katamari and it was 1.7gb ouch. So you can really only get 2 or 3 games on a 4gb chip. And the load times on the games are bad I tried playing Midnight Club on it and it took forever to load the level. But where the PSP excels is with homebrew and movies. With all the emulators available for it I can play games from Atari 2600 to N64 and GBA, although the GBA and N64 are slow right now they will improve so it's like having an all in one old school game system. Also some of the emulators support wi-fi so you can play a SNES or NES game with your friends so that's really cool for me. Lastly the movies are great I can convert them really fast and the quality is wonderful there are no skips and the screen is just great for the movies.

What you 'PSP emulator guys' forget to tell is that the PSP suffers from a LOT of ghosting. Whenever I wanted to play a game on one of the many emulators the homebrew scene has to offer, I was always looking at the shades that are left behind. Try playing Warioland on GBC for example and you'll notice what I'm talking about. That ticked me off >.

I know what you mean, ghosting on GTA Liberty City Stories is horrible too
