me and my friend wanted to go on nintendo wifi on the ds lites, but we couldnt because of he couldnt get into his router to chnage the security because he forgot the user and pass. so we just went on the wii on it,
he got a dsi as his ds broke and he is connected to the internet, and we would like to go on animal crossing wild world with nintendo wifi, ive read reviews and it says that wifi wont your with ds games. is this true?

Considering that the Wi-Fi protocol is in the DSi and not the Game Cart it should work. I can't imagine Ninty adding it in and not making it compatible with the original wi-fi games.

Answer: YES! THe protocols are built into the DSi's firmware and hardware that is where all Wi-Fi connectivity takes place, the game just uses that to connect to its servers.

You know you could have just tried the Wi-Fi connection on it. It would have taken all of 5 minutes.

He will have to use the same settings what he used to get the Wii online using the same SSID etc in the DSi internet settings or in game settings choose the wifi setup option

i forgot to meantion he has wpa

ds games won't work with wpa. connection 1, 2 & 3 only support wep, connection 4,5 & 6 will work with wpa but are for dsi mode only.

What? So Ninty included WPA into the Wi-Fi hardware but don't let any games but DSi ones use it? Seems odd. I'd have thought the firmware connects and the software just uses the connection

There are more uses for WiFi than just playing games. For example, the DSiWare shop and the new web browser. It'd be ridiculous if both those feature were still limited to WEP.
