I purchased a DSi in the month of May. The "R" button just doesn't function whatsoever. I was contemplating sending it to Nintendo but decided against that. I was planning to send it to ToyRUs (where I purchased it) for an exchange. I don't care much about the DSiWare or the photos. I'd rather exchange it at ToyRUs because I'll get a whole new (scratch-less DSi

)!. I was wondering whether I could exchange it at ToyRUs. The manufacter warranty is 1 year and Nintendo did say you could exchange it at store if defective. And I do consider the "R" button defective as I did not do anything that may have damaged it.

You should be able to. The warranty includes pretty much everything for a year, including bricks or having it drop into a lake.

You can also call customer service at India Toys R Us and ask. My dad bought his DSi at Best Buy and they offered a warranty. Mind you he hasn't had to use it yet, but they offered it.

It should work, you might be able to get one of the newer colors too.

Also make sure you register your new DSi with club Nintendo along with your old DSi to get the points for both

Registering your new DSi will also extend the warranty by about 9 months (I think...it might actually only be 3).

You can fix the button by blowing into it for a while but you should still b able to return it

Why a temporary fix when I can have a permanent fix?.........

I tried registering two ds's, and it said I couldn't.
Has that changed?

The red nintendo always use is probably the worst red, crimson was kind of nice, but the dsi red looks too gaudy.

I might exchange my DSi soon, I've been having too many problems in the pas month. The L and R button only work if I blow on them for half an hour before playing, those little protective soft thingys on the back fell out (I haven't got a clue how that happened) and if I press some places on the DSi it makes some weird squeaky noise...

Try putting your lips over the R button and blow into it to get any dust that might be on the contact button. If that doesn't work as well just use a compressed air can and use that to blow out the dust. If neither of those work, your R button could be defective.
