I just got my AceKard 2i today, and I am at a loss. My DSi keeps saying that it is unreadable, and yes, I looked up other topics. One said put tape on because it was a contact error(cart not touching reader) but it did nothing. Help would be well appreciated by all of the noobs and people being annoyed by noobs.

Am I screwed?

Some people have borrowed DSLite from GameStop or similar retailers, by purchasing and returning it or by asking nicely
If you can't do that and don't have a friend who can lend you one, then you could buy one that's already updated.
Once you have that you should be able to update the card you already have (by using the other firmware update file intended for unbricking,) by running ak2ifw_update_14_DSL_new.nds on your pre-updated AK2i and then putting your unflashed AK2i in to run it. I'm not 100% sure it's possible to swap carts on a DSi as I've heard conflicting reports though.

Well, according to tk_saturn's guide:
QUOTEThis file only runs on the DS Lite or DS Phat because the DSi will not allow you to eject a cartridge beyond the DSi menu.

Good to know. Terrible way to respond to a quote though. I was trying to figure out why you had quoted my entire post and rereading it before I realized you even said anything yourself.

However, I wonder why I'm able to use the SavSender/savsend Homebrews on my DSi XL in that case. It does not turn off when it is required to eject the flashcart and insert your original.
