Hey guys, need a bit of help here.

Deciding between purchasing a DSi or DSi XL. I currently have a DS Lite, but feel like an upgrade.

Wondering whether to purchase a normal DSi for £108 in Zavvi. Or a DSi XL for £140 in Toys R Us.

What do you guys recommend, I was thinking about going for the normal DSi, but then the DSi XL is only £30 more and has a bigger screen.

Help me please! x]

i like the bigger screen but it doesn't fit in your pocket as well.
you should decide on whether to get it or not based on where you need to carry it.

Ye, i'll probably purchase a DSi then. Then i'll have another £100 saved up for the 3DS. Thanks for the helpp ;]

Plus i'll want to be carrying it around with me, so the DSi is more portable. But are the bigger screens better?

Unless you need glasses to see clearly or are bothered by smaller images, there won't be much reason to get an XL.

It's up to you. DSi is more portable than DSi XL, same as the DS Lite. But for me, I'll take the bigger screens than portability any day.

I agree with snailface. I have both and i always use my XL, even outside of the house. It fits in all my pockets fine and it has awesome huge screens. I just don't think that i will be getting a 3DS at the possible $400 (australian dollars (price the wii was launched at in Aus)) price tag and $70 games (AUD)

Might go with the XL for £30 more x]. Plus the XL was released more recently than the DSi right?

I say XL.

I love my bigger screens, and hate going back to my smaller DSL.

If you have a DSL anyway, no need to get a DSi.

Either get an XL for the bigger screens, or wait for the 3DS.

XL is the same console and can do all the same things as the dsi but has bigger screens and a better build quality. The DSi has a finish that makes your hand stick to it and sweat. The XL has this removed. The DSi also has looser L and R buttons than the XL and it is more likely that the shoulder buttons will break on the DSi. XL is definitely better!

I hope you get an XL for your sake

But, if you would prefer, and i wish i had, wait out for the 3DS. It isn't too long to wait.

I second the blue. I got mine when there were only 2 colours and i got poo brown because carrying around and red ds would be like having a pink one

If you really want a 3DS, I think it better to get acquainted with a system whose screen size is closer to that. I mean, no point in getting used to a bigger screen if you're gonna get a new one within months that has a slightly smaller set of screens. But that's just me.

The XL shows up the low resolution of the screens much more than the DSi. The screens are BIG, granted, but look very 'dotty' (sorry, couldn't think of a better word - pixelated, they are not, it's a bit like when you are too close to an old CRT TV). I didn't like the XL because of this and got a DSi instead and for the same reason as you, just fancied an u/g from the Lite and cost was not an issue.

Edit: missed out 2nd XL
