Hey guys, the thing is if there's been no modification to the DSi and you bought it when it was released, your manufacturer's warranty would cover the problem, as they always know there could be a problem with first batch.
Except Nintendo cleverly worded out Shouldber buttons/hinges repairs, as they "are not covered by the waranty"
Unless you're gonna pay Ninty £60 to get it fixed and wat 6months for it to finish, I suggets sending it to ConsoleDoctor.co.uk, they take about 3 days average to repair consoles. 6/5 stars from me.

Nintendo customer service was no help at all in fact they were damn rude and out of order.
When i told them it was broke still - they said i was wrong!
they said it is on record that they tested it for 2 and a half hours and found nothing wrong with it, and no matter what i may say there is no fault but if i would like to send it in again they would test it again.
(logic tells me they would put it in a machine and the machine will say it works so no point sending it in again then)
Seriously it was so noticable that when i took it to gamestation to get my money back they all had a go, and all of them noticed the fault and said it was very rubbish that nintendo wouldnt help, but they couldnt tell me if this was normal ninty customer service as nintendo products rarely fail (i agree)
To the kind guys at Gamestation thankyou very much for your help, this is a great store with great customer service (as long as you have the reciept lol)

thanks to them i was cheered up by them accepting my problem and dealing with it.

Thanks to them i SWAPPED my black FAULTY BROKEN DSi for a BRIGHT WHITE DSi
AND IT WORKS LIKE A CHARM

unfortunatley i have lost all my games (pyoro - paper plain - artstyle aquite - real football - and a stupid game thats like chinese whispers)

nintendo will not transfer my games even though i have told them everything i have told you all - they say sorry but your games are locked to one dsi and can never be transferred.

wasted my money. never again. DSi is just a funky camera/music player for me now. not buying any online games again.
Here is to the future, i'll wait untill somebody finds an exploit and then i'm gonna hack this bitch. not paying for games that can just dissapear at nintendo's will.

Downloadable content is unfortunate, but it should be linked to the account which downloaded, and because you have purchased it and the points, you should be able to obtain a digital copy over if lost or problem with DSi. That is simply a fact as it has beeen purchased by you and therefore you own it, and deserve your copy no matter if its on a DSi.

They probably will never fix this problem because they think that somebody might log into his account on a friend's DSi, download the game and voilà, that friend never had to pay a penny for that download.
Or is there any other solutions to this? How does the Xbox deal with downloads? I heard there were no restrictions at all.

But I do hope Nintendo get their crap together and deal with it, stat!

Here. Here!! I agree with you bud

No you can not EVER get your games back. The only way is if Nintendo replace the DSi themselves and they will transfer your stuff onto a new one but they are adiment my DSi is not broken so wouldnt do that for me.

Badness.

This statement is not fully accurate. Please see details in this post on how to transfer DSiWare and points when doing an return/exchange with a retailer.

With xbox it works really well. Downloads will work on any console (online and offline) that it is tied with OR anyone profile that purchased the content and is currently online. Meaning that if you go to a friends house you can download the content on his xbox with your account but they would not be able to play it unless they sign on with your account and go online. Originally if you got a new xbox you were screwed on your content if you wanted to play offline but they later released a tool online for you to transfer content licenses over to a new xbox. Only downside is that you can only do it once a year.

Random questions/notes.

A) What have you played that much that you broke a shoulder button? You must really be button mashing regardless.
B) Only a handfull of games really use shoulder buttons. I can name five that don't suck off the top of my head.
C) Who did you buy it from? Some places offer warranties that just give you a completely new one. Or you register your DSi online and get an extention on your warranty
D) That sucks.

Not so random answers: In my case, my DSi was purchased from Gamestop during the day-0 midnight launch, the shoulder button was barely used and obviously defective from the start, it was 35 days old when it finally crapped out (5 days beyond Gamestop's 30 day policy), and it did suck until Nintendo replaced it for free and transferred all my content and points.

A) i had no games that use the shoulder buttons, just pyoro, paper plane etc... and thats the point. i only used the shoulder button to take pictures and for no reason it stopped working

B) i downloaded real football the day before i swapped it for a new one to test the button in a game (sold my ds games to get the dsi) and it definatly was broke as couldnt 'run' and kept loosing the ball because of it.

C) gamestation (and unlike ninty they were actually helpfull.. top shop!)

D) yep
