Wow. I think im the only one loving my DSi

. I dont think the cameras are for being a pro photographer but just for some innovative gameplay ^^ Im really looking forward to some more great games that uses camera, sound and everything like Warioware - Snapped

So i dont agree.

Edit: Oh i forgot that i only had the DSi for about 20 days so maybe im still blinded by the eyecandy'ish DSi xD

The DS Lite is waaaaaaaaaaay more of a fad, because it adds absolutely nothing to the original DS, besides the new fancy smaller design and the brighter screen. Compared to the many additions of the DSi, it's nothing. Even though the DSi's cameras are very gimmicky, they could be exploited in many ways, depending on how developers work with it. Perhaps even more important are the upgraded specs (4x the RAM, 2x the processor, integrated flash memory, SD card slot) which also make it easier to develop more complex games. The lack of a GBA slot doesn't bother me the slightest, I have a DS Lite and I intend to keep it. I see no problem with having two DSes to serve different purposes. As for the DSi store, I think it is gradually getting better with Mighty Flip Champs, the Art Style series, Mario vs. Donkey Kong, and you have to keep in mind that it is still very young, and that WiiWare is also filled with tons of crap. So you should give it some more time before judging it so harshly.

Also, the cameras aren't so bad. Everyone wants high definition and all that shit, but the pictures taken with the DSi are clear enough to be useful and effective to be used for games, or even as a standard camera. It was very useful to me when I had to take pictures of some parts of my school for a project.

I don't think the problem is with the DSi so much as I think it's a problem with nintendo releasing the DSi without any software to back it up.

Let's go back in time for a moment. If the original DS had been released with no DS games available (IE it could only play regular GBA games) would we not be having this same discussion about it? I'd say it's a little unfair to judge the DSi until we start seeing some actual DSi games that test and push the better hardware of the system.

That said, I upgraded from an old brick DS, so my DSi is actually quite nice in comparison. It'll, of course, be a lot more useful once DSi mode is cracked and we have access to the new hardware but even for now it still beats what I had.

As a side note, I never upgraded to a DS lite because the D-pad was horrible. I don't see how anyone could play using such a mushy POS. While the DSi's D-pad still isn't as great as the original, it's a marked improvement over the lite's.

i shall never buy a DSL for one simple reason, there is no point!

i have a ds
i have a camera
i have an mp3 player
i have a pc with firefox!
i have no need for one

DSi is pretty much outdone by any DS and a cell phone.

DS can: Play DS and GBA games!

Cell phone can: Take pictures, play music, surf the web (well, most of them), and even make phone calls!

And since most people have a cell phone, you might as well save yourself the few bucks and buy a DSLite.

How about when/if a Virtual Console for GBA/GB games comes out? Nevermind! Slot 2 Flash Carts.

Would've been great if they hadn't cut the GBA slot. That's quite an issue for me, probably the sort that will keep me from ever getting a DSi.
Unless it gets like 20+ must have games, of course.

I had no problem with the DSi losing it's GBA slot becuase it leaves room for a Virtual Console. I own a DS Lite, GBA SP, GBA and I can play GBA games on all of them. Unless you are trading in your DS Lite/DS you should have no problem with the absence of a GBA slot,

Yes, because we know how easy and reliable the Slot 2 solutions are for GBA games right?

I honestly hated Slot 2 for the DS, it was far too much of a pain in the ass to play games and I still have my GBA SP (mind you it needs to have the shoulder buttons adjusted) and I can easily go out and purchase a GBA flash card for cheap that will be far more effective and less risky then flashing a DS Lite for Slot 2 cards or using that shitty EZ Flash 3 in 1 which drove me nuts having to load a game every time I wanted to play a different GBA game. Also consider that you will never see DSiWare on the DS Lite since it doesn't have the processing power and Nintendo might opt to release old Gameboy games or old school console titles with far superior compatibility to what emulators are providing the DS right now (quite frankly the SNES emulators suck on the DSi)

I think the DSi will definately become a lot better than the DS (Lite). In my opinion it's a matter of time before Nintendo releases some exclusive titles for DSi. Imagine a new Mario, Pikmin, Zelda, Metroid etc. developed exclusively for DSi...

Also, all of the imperfections of the DS Lite are solved. A better Dpad, better sound, an SD slot, bigger screens...

I haven't bought one yet though, because there isn't any need to at the moment. I only recently replaced my good old DS Phat with a DS Lite because I was able to buy the DS Lite very cheap. I'm going to do the same with DSi.

the screen alone makes it worth while.

I'm still in the "appreciation" stages... The music player is excellent (I get to put more games than music as I only used Moonshell for MP3). Radio effect FTW.

The cameras??? Well I see myself taking at least 1 picture a day. I used it to take pics during my trip to Scotland and compared to my other 7MP camera, blurgghhhhh....

DSiWare? I'm also hoping for VC games (and the ability to put previously downloaded games on the DSi). I bought 3 DSiWare games and I play them every once in a while.

IMO, there are flaws that should have been addressed during the prototyping stages. One thing that comes into my mind right now is a switch for Wi-Fi.

I think that the biggest improvement to the DSi is just how it feels. It's much lighter than the lite and feels better in a gaming session. not a sweaty

One thing I hope for are improved gamecarts. The old DS ones were quite limited...the biggest (well, with just one game using them so far) are the 256MB ones. For example, with Disgaea DS, they had to cut out basically all of the voice acting, and they replaced the nice music on the other versions with crappy MIDI versions. If they could only use bigger carts that rivaled the PSP UMDs, that would be quite something...

I needed the dsi because i still had the DS Phat which i could barely fit in my pocket. And i didnt really care if the GBA slot was removed because i still have my old gba sp and i just play my gba on there or on my wii (emu). I wasnt really disappointed at all with the DSi only that i dropped it a couple of times and it got two scratches easily >_> not that noticable though.

the DSi isnt a fad, its a handheld console. The fad is throwing cheap small digital cameras into handheld electronics, which has been around for years. And yes it is stupid.

Oh man, that is so true.

A iphone would be better. DSi didnt need all that mp3/camera/browser shit. It just needs to play games.

In my comments, a console should STAY a console, not a phone/camera/mp4 player/browser/pc hybrid.

Thanks for this topic. I'm a anti-DSi activist (or something like that). I would like to see the thing destroyed! I must admit that the DSi is best in one category: Being the Number 1 Rip off product.

I can't believe why people fall for this thing. It's the way Coca-Cola market their product as a lifestyle product:
"You want this!!"
"I do??"
"YES YOU DO...it's a way of life"
"Uh..okay I don't know what's wrong with what I already have but I'll guess I find that out when I buy it."

Sorry, but I still think people who buy a DSi don't realize they're being ripped off.

Well then I'm anti Apple ... mp3 player =/= game player. IMO there's nothing wrong with the dsi anyways. Its like this because of a crappy competitor named Apple product iPod Touch. >.>

Hey that's how the world works you are good at something you will get competitors who try to out shine you and if they do step up your game. >.> If we could mash all competitors into one there wouldn't be so much hate on the internet would there?

If a iPod could emulate ds I probably would be protesting lul.
