And some people might get offended you know. I understand it's only a homebrew thing, but if it were a real game that you could buy in the stores, I would be seriously offended. Why? Because I don't like it when some people feel the need to push religion on others, especially kids who are the majority owners of the DS.

Ugh, King James Version is such a crap translation. Pretty much any other translation you find, Catholic or Protestant, is going to be more accurate.

I agree. If you don't stop nagging, this guy'll probably shoot you or something.

Don't over think it so much. It has nothing to do with people "pushing" religion on kids. It's just made to hopefully be of use by its creator. Even if it was an actual commercial "game" that you could buy there would be no need to feel offended at all. Just don't buy it. It's that simple. Don't over think the simple things in life.

I agree. I'm a Christian myself, but I wouldn't take offense to commercial ebooks of other religious texts. And realisticly, what kid would want to buy the Bible, Christian or not? It's a hell of a big read, especially the King James Version. Even adults have trouble understanding it.

Time to test this homebrew. It looks like it's gonna be sweet.

According to the developer, most of the "good" translations are copyrighted and so can't be included here, which is a shame because a portable NLT bible would be all I need.

Yeah, all the modern translations have restrictions on how much you can use. I wonder how much it would cost to get permission to use a copyrighted translation? Sites like BibleGateway have obviously got permission. It's probably gonna cost more than it's worth though.

Biblegateway.com lets you read the Bible in copyrighted translations, so you could just write a script that gets all the text from the website and stores it in DSbible's format, and no one would ever know. I might do that for myself but wouldn't distribute it to everyone...

I looked around the website for some information on copying their Bible text but didn't find anything. I remember reading at the beginning of my NIV Bible that they only let you copy a certain number of verses and no more. Actually I don't know very much about the "rules" of copying certain translations of the Bible...

Note: I started writing this post before the last couple posts were posted...

That came to mind too, but I have no idea how you would do it. If you know how, I say go for it, whether you distribute it or not.

My CEV has similar rules. Off the top of my head, I think you're restricted to copying up to 500 verses, but they can't make up a whole book. The total amount of verses you use can't add up to more than 50% of whatever you're using them in either.
