I apologize if the answer to my question should be obvious, but I can't really find a definite answer despite searching for a while. Everything I've read so far leads me to believe that if you have a nice flash cart, like the CycloDS for example, you can play DS roms over Wifi as if they were the real game. I'm not just talking about download play where your friend is a few feet away, but playing over Nintendo's legitimate Wifi service, with the friend codes and such. Is this true? Was Nintendo really not clever enough to develop some type of system to determine if you are connecting with a legitimate game?

Almost every flashcart can do wifi to play online. Your choice for online is extremly easy. It's download play(DS to DS) that can be a biiit tricky on some carts, but not wifi. Wifi works great on all.
