Gaming DS Titles Expected: August 2008

Another enjoyable month lies ahead of us! Welcome back folks, glad to see that you’re still with me <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="

" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> Again I apologize for being a tad late but at least I made it before August 1st ^^ Fortunately things will get better from here on as I’ll be out of work as of August 15th (and that equals loads of spare time \o/).
What I’m looking forward to in August month is Air Traffic Chaos (again! ><), Bangai-O-Spirits (from the makers of Ikaruga <3), From the Abyss (dungeon-crawler with co-op!), Rain Drops (again! ><), and Time Hollow (interestingly-looking adventure game).
Also keeping an eye on the following titles: Commando: Steel Distaster (Metal Slug wannabe), Elebits (looks cute <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/happy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="

" border="0" alt="happy.gif" />), <strike>and Line Rider 2</strike> (it’s Line Rider all over again, go figure).

God dangit, this game never made it out in July!! How annoying is that? >< Anyway, crossing my fingers that they can keep their “promise” this time around.

Now, allow me to quote myself from my thread for July:

Air Traffic Chaos is a game where you play as an ATC, working on five different airports where you direct arriving and departing planes while making sure that there’s enough space in the air and on the airport to keep accidents from happening. The game has no multiplayer (how the heck would that work out anyway?), but apparently features a high score sharing system which allows you to provide your friends with a challenge to try and beat your score instead of something pre-set by the game’s developers! Crazy stuff.

<a href="http://www.gametrailers.com/player/34315.html" target="_blank">Bangai-O Spirits</a> (US), Shoot ’em Up, 12th
Awesome-looking shooter from the company that gave us Ikaruga (W00T), Gunstar Heroes, and Sin & Punishment. Now the fact that they were behind Ikaruga alone is enough for me to crave for this game. Plus I’ve read that it supports up to four players! Wewt <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yaynds.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yayds:" border="0" alt="yaynds.gif" />

Trust me - you’ll want to keep an eye on this baby.

Yet another shooter, only this one looks an awful lot like Metal Slug. And that’s kind of a good thing (to a certain point). The screenshots sure caught my interest, but I felt that the trailer was so-so... Worth a try at least.

<strike>Elebits: The Adventures of Kai and Zero (US), Action, 12th</strike>
While I’ve never gotten around playing Elebits on the Wii, I do know that the game scored high in pretty much every magazine. So hopefully this’ll be just as good and looking at the adorable, crisp-looking screenshots I’m more than willing to give this game a try (but I still won’t get the Wii version).

Fire Emblem is back! And this time around, it's going down the emo-path just like Advanced Wars: Days of Ruin did with its darker look! Personally I've got something against this (Fire Emblem should look lush, beautiful and colorful IMO) and that's why I won't bother playing this game even after it's out in the US and Europe...

Role-playing games on the DS just keep on coming! And that’s how we like it, right? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="

" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> This one looks like your standard dungeon-crawler with randomized dungeons, sporting both outdoor and indoor environments. And there’s co-op multiplayer too (please support online play and not just local)!
Gosh I really do hope that this plays similar to Shining Soul 1 and 2 on the GBA - I found those to be pretty neat if you had at least one friend to play with. Screenshots look pretty cool with good use of the touch screen for managing skills etc.

Lulwut? K I admit being a Garfield fan - I grew up with this cat after all. Keeping my fingers crossed and my hands held together, praying that this platformer will actually turn out ok...

This game has been listed here for one reason only: its name. I think it’s safe to say that everyone here knows about GRID on the PS3, 360 and PC and what a great racing game it is. Even if the DS version only gets half as good then it should still be enough to kick the crap out of every other racing game on this system.

It’s Harvest Moon, again. I really don’t think this game needs any presentation and I truly do envy those of you who find this series to be enjoyable - because sadly I don’t (a shame really when I’m so in love with Animal Crossing) :/ Well anyway, enjoy this next installment in the series which offers farm-ranking and product-grading over Wi-Fi.

Woot Line Rider is back! This is one awesome little game and those of you who haven’t played it yet should give it a try - just Google for “Line Rider” and click on any link as it’s bound to take you to the flash game where it all began.

Not too sure about the release date though as I’ve read elsewhere how this game is supposed to hit the Wii as well - but not until Septemer...

UPDATE: Yup, confirmed - it won't come out 'til September :/

Another game that can be played for free in your browser as long as you’ve got Adobe Flash installed. Bottom line is this: you control a ninja who runs and jumps around levels. Combinations of moving left, right, and jumping on the game’s various terrain allows for some wicked moves and the goal of each level is to reach the exit - using a lot of skill, a pinch of luck, and a handful of clever thinking.

Cool-looking game where the player journey through a time-bending adventure to solve the mysteries of the present by changing events of the past - using the stylus to draw portals for transportation... Wicked huh? Well watch the trailer and you’ll see for yourself that this could very well turn out to be one awesome adventure game (which is something that the DS should be getting more of).

Yeah, I'll be trying out most of those titles. N+ and Line Rider are definitely on my radar, and I've always enjoyed Harvest Moon. Elebits looks like some cutsey fun as well, I always go for some of that... Wait... What'd I just say?

Looks like another great month, although I'm sure I'll still be playing KORG and Tengoku Gold throughout it. Good work on the thread, Conra.

Meh nothing I have been waiting for, and still not overly interested in anything so far. From what I have seen From the Abyss doesn't look that great (hope I am wrong) and of course I am waiting for FE in English and I know I will love it so wont even bother with the jap version.

Definitely a handful of decent ones to look forward to. I am intrigued by Rain Drops, even though there's no info available for the game. Just curious what we'll get with that one on the DS -- could be interesting.

Very much looking forward to Commando. I wasn't before, but after having so much fun with Metal Slug 7, I'm guessing this will be more of that sort of thing.

I think there might have been a few you missed on your list, but so far, not a bad month to look forward to.

Yeah I tend to miss out on a few games every month - which is why I always make sure to read Hadrian's reports every week and then add whatever games he might've managed to dig up
