Gaming DS powers off when touched

Hi guys!!
Our 5yr old DSL powers on ok, and you can use any of the buttons but as soon as you touch the actual touch screen, it powers off again...
In fact you dont even have to touch the actual screen, even pressing down firmly on the case beside the screen powers it off also...
Could it just be the screen is faulty or is it something worse and the console itself is dead???
Any info would be much appreciated...

There must be some error in the circuits inside the ds. So may be you should get it tested from the inside. This may also start happening with your yellow ds lights too.
