Hacking DS Linker problem

when i opened up my ds linker, everytime i selected a game, it says "write error!" or something like that. so i decided to format it and reinstall the new firmware. so i ran a full format, then got the latest firmware from the download section but now, when i enter game mode, i get a white screen on the bottom screen. can anyone help me?

goto usb mode, copy xmenu.dat from the firmware folder, restart in game mode, it will create systems files needed

I copied the xmenu 2.42 and went to game mode. but it says:

Error: FAT cluster size must > 16 K byte!

Please reformat card!

Format your dslinker. Turn on your DS with DSlinker and DiskWriter inserted, and before the DSLinker inicialization, press Press L + R + A + B + DOWN

alright, the card is formatted and i put the xmenu back in and now it works! thanks a million for the awesome help.
